Gain expert advice on BigQuery to take advantage of data warehousing. In this session, GOJEK, a global company with multiple products and services and lots of data, will share how they have designed their data model to have BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage for their data lake and data warehouse, how they've set up their infrastructure using GCP, and how they've built internal tools as part of this process. GOJEK will also share how they govern their data warehouse to support their business, accelerate their decision making process, and gain intelligence about their products. You will also get an in-depth walk through on how to work with semi-structured data, including how to ingest JSON array data types inside of BigQuery. But while denormalizing your schema into a single table with nested and repeated fields can yield performance improvements, the SQL syntax for working with array data can be tricky. Follow along as we demo loading, querying, troubleshooting, and unnesting various semi-structured data sets. https://ecoursereview.com/cloud-computing-pros-and-cons-for-business-it/ 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services: IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained You Might Wonder – What Is Cloud Computer: #Cloudcomputing is a set of forms that contain certain elements that allows for on-demand, network access, scalability, and shared resources. It's a platform for managing, storing, and processing data online through the internet. Some of the cloud computing features include the following: - On-Demand Services – Available when you need it - Network Access – When using the internet as your medium - Shared Resources – All resources are gathered together and used by multiple customers - Scalability - The ability of a computer system to adapt to increasing demands The Three Delivery Models: Cloud computing provides different services based on three delivery configurations. When they are arranged in a pyramid structure, they are in the order of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. The Three Services: #SaaS - Software as a Service This service provides on-demand pay per use of the application software for users and is independent of a platform. You do not have to install software on your computer, unlike a license paid program. Cloud runs a single occurrence of the software, making it available for multiple end-users allowing the service to be cheap. All the computing resources that are responsible for delivering SaaS are totally managed by the vendor. The service is accessible through a web browser or lightweight client applications. End customers use SaaS regularly. The most popular SaaS providers offer the following products and services: Google Ecosystem including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, and SalesForce. #PaaS - Platform as a Service This service is mostly a development environment that is made up of a programming language execution environment, an operating system, web server, and database. It provides an environment where users can build, compile, and run their program without worrying about an hidden infrastructure. You manage the data and application resources. All the other resources are managed by the vendor. This is the realm for developers. PaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon Web services, Elastic Beanstalk, Google App Engine, Windows Azure, Heroku, and Force.com #IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service This service provides the architecture and infrastructure. It provides all computing resources but in a virtual environment so multiple users can have access. The resources include data storage, virtualization, servers, and networking. Most vendors are responsible for managing them. If you use this service, you are responsible for handling other resources including applications, data, runtime, and middleware. This is mostly for SysAdmins. IaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon EC2, Go Grid, and Rackspace.com. Here is a short list of some companies that use cloud computing: iCloud – Cloud from Apple is for Apple products. You can backup and store everything from multimedia to documents online. The content is then smoothly integrated onto your devices. Amazon's AWS - When you talk about companies using cloud computing, Amazon Web Services leads the pack. It offers IaaS and PaaS to all their customers. Google Cloud – This cloud platform is universal for Google's enormous ecosystem and for other products such as Microsoft Office. It provides storage of data and collaboration along with other services that are included in their cloud computing suite. Microsoft Azure – Offered by Microsoft, it provides SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS for its software and developer tools. If you have used Office 365, then you have used SaaS. IBM Smart Cloud - This offers private, public, and hybrid distribution platforms providing a full range of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud computing services for businesses. The pay as you go platform generates profits for IBM. New technology is popping up all over the internet and Cloud seems to be on the rise. This is only scratching the surface on what is already available and what will become available throughout 2017. --- 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services - IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36zducUX16w #CloudComputingServices #CloudComputing --- Follow us on https://www.facebook.com/EcourseReviews https://twitter.com/EcourseReviews https://plus.google.com/+Ecoursereview/posts https://ecoursereview.com/

3/28/16 It is David Harvey’s contention that the production of space, especially the distribution and organization of the territory, constitutes a principal aspect of capitalist economies. His writings on this theme have contributed to the ongoing political debate on globalization and on the different spatial strategies associated to global processes. A foundation of Harvey’s intellectual project is his “close reading” and interpretation of Karl Marx’s Capital, which he has taught and read for decades and documented in his Companion to Marx’s Capital (2010). But Harvey’s work is distinguished by the way he has brought Marxism together with geography with productive results for each discipline. For instance, he has approached the overaccumulation of capital by way of its reflection in spatial expansion in order to demonstrate its causative role. His book Limits to Capital (1982), which traces this argument, is a mainstay of the contemporary understanding of capitalism’s perennial economic crises (among others are Ernest Mandel’s Late Capitalism (1972), Giovanni Arrighi’s Long 20th Century (1994) and Robert Brenner’s Economics of Global Turbulence (2006)). Among other ideas, Harvey is known for his critical interpretation of the ideas of Henri Lefebvre and his own formulation of the “right to the city.” His book Spaces of Hope (2000) explores a role for architecture in bridging between the human body and the uneven development that is characteristic of globalization. Asked to single out a favorite of Harvey’s books, Dean Mohsen Mostafavi refers to Harvey’s book Social Justice and the City (1973) as “an important articulation of the relationship between the city as a physical artifact and its social consequences. His writings have provided an acute analysis of our society and provide an indispensable framework for new forms of spatial imagination." David Harvey, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology & Geography at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), is the 2015–2016 Senior Loeb Scholar.

Blockcloud is developing an advanced TCP/IP that will be blockchain-based and service-centric. Learn more: https://crushcrypto.com/blockcloud-ico-review/ Project website: https://www.block-cloud.io White paper: https://www.block-cloud.io/blockcloudtechnicalwhitepaper.pdf Download the PDF version of the presentation: https://crushcrypto.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/CrushCrypto-ICO-Review-Blockcloud-BLOC.pdf Download the free ICO Guide which contains 6 simple steps for analyzing any ICOs to find the winning projects: https://crushcrypto.com/youtube/ Note: This is not a paid review. We do not offer promotional or advertising services. Our content is based on our own research, analysis and personal opinion. _______________________________________ What does the company/project do? Blockcloud is developing an advanced Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) that will be blockchain-based and service-centric. Their proposed solution involves Service-Centric Networking (SCN), a new type of networking architecture that allows applications to communicate using service names instead of addresses. Their solution is essentially a set of networking protocols that will constantly connect network providers and demanders while resolving the issues of poor connectivity, scalability, and security that exists in today’s Internet of Things (IoT) industry. _______________________________________ What are the tokens used for and how can token holders make money? The BLOC token is the network’s native token and is used to enable an incentive-driven marketplace for IoT services. Blockcloud will leverage various mechanisms such as Proof-of-Service (POS) to verify services and Truthful Continuous Double Auction (TCDA) to fairly distribute services. With this model, buyers could gradually pay tokens to the service provider for verified services provided and avoid the risk of losing money if the seller leaves the network before the agreed quantity of service has been consumed. BLOC tokens should appreciate in value as more participants join and use the network which is in turn driven by factors such as ease of use, pricing, mobility, security, etc. _______________________________________ Opportunities - SCN on blockchain can make blockchain more user-friendly and has a lot of potential. - Team has strong background from technical perspective (core team has a lot of academic background and many of their advisors are professors) and in business development (i.e. already built various partnerships, they created that smart home/smart wear company). - The collaboration with the various universities and CERNET could result in fast adoption / good traction. - IoT is a rapidly growing industry. According to the team, “the number of IoT devices increased 31% year on year to 8.4 billion in 2017 and it is estimated that this number will grow to 30 billion by 2020”. Speaker: Liliana Cruz-Lopez Slides: https://www.slideshare.net/SessionsEvents/liliana-cruz-lopez-deep-reinforcement-learning-based-insulin-controller-for-effective-type1-diabetic-care "As of 2017 CDC report, more than 100 million U.S. adults are now living with diabetes or prediabetes. This disease results from high blood glucose (blood sugar) due to an inability to properly derive energy from food, primarily in the form of glucose. Effective diabetic care for insulin dependent Type-1 patients requires that a healthy-level of glucose is maintained throughout the day with minimal fluctuations in either direction. The goal of insulin dependent diabetic care is to administer appropriate amount of insulin at appropriate time such that glucose level is maintained at near target level without reaching hypo or hyper level. This research work proposes and explores the effectiveness of Deep Reinforcement Learning models as the insulin controller for Type 1 diabetes. Given the nature of the insulin-glucose dynamics, Reinforcement Learning based approaches seem to be more suitable compared to model driven controller typically employed for the diabetic care. Specifically, adapting the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm, a Deep Reinforcement Learning based insulin controller is proposed and analyzed to study its efficacy in achieving better glucose control. Given that DDPG is a model-free, off-policy actor-critic algorithm using deep function approximators that can learn policies in high-dimensional, continuous action spaces, we develop the insulin controller using DDPG algorithm We implement our approach in SimGlucose environment, a recently proposed Reinforcement Learning based software platform that supports Open AI Gym to evaluate our proposed controller. We compare the performance of DDPG based insulin controller that with widely used Padova model based insulin controller. Our simulation driven evaluations indicate that DDPG based controllers are able to better react and control blood sugar fluctuations compared to model driven controllers. While further evaluations with real datasets are required, the preliminary results indicate that Deep Reinforcement Learning based insulin controllers are promising candidates for better glucose control for Type-1 diabetic care."

The fact that many commonly used networks take hours to days for training has motivated recent research towards reducing training time. On the other hand networks, once trained, are heavyweight dense linear algebra computations, usually requiring expensive acceleration to execute in real time. However, recent advances in algorithms, hardware, and systems have broken through these barriers dramatically. Models that took days to train are now reported to be trainable in under an hour. Further, with model optimization techniques and emerging commodity silicon, these models can be executed on the edge or in the cloud at surprisingly low energy and dollar cost. This session will present the ideas and techniques underlying these breakthroughs and discuss the implications of this new regime of “free inference and instant training.” See more at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/video/free-inference-and-instant-training-breakthroughs-and-implications/

Among them, one of the active topic areas is the mining and prediction of users' mobile commerce behaviors such as their movements and purchase transactions. In this paper, we propose a novel framework, called Mobile Commerce Explorer (MCE), for mining and prediction of mobile users' movements and purchase transactions under the context of mobile commerce. The MCE framework consists of three major components: 1) Similarity Inference Model (SIM) for measuring the similarities among stores and items, which are two basic mobile commerce entities considered in this paper; 2) Personal Mobile Commerce Pattern Mine (PMCP-Mine) algorithm for efficient discovery of mobile users' Personal Mobile Commerce Patterns (PMCPs); and 3) Mobile Commerce Behavior Predictor (MCBP) for prediction of possible mobile user behaviors. To our best knowledge, this is the first work that facilitates mining and prediction of mobile users' commerce behaviors in order to recommend stores and items previously unknown to a user. We perform an extensive experimental evaluation by simulation and show that our proposals produce excellent results.

We do not offer promotional or advertising services. Our content is based on our own research, analysis and personal opinion. _______________________________________ What does the company/project do? DxChain is developing a decentralized big data and machine learning network. The project is based on the premise that data is valuable and data creators should be able to own and benefit from their own data. The team aims to tackle major big data issues such as privacy, ownership, and security while supporting business intelligence and machine learning applications. With DxChain’s decentralized data exchange platform, users would be able to own and control their own data, and securely trade and analyze data. Utilizing blockchain technology featuring multi-nodes and distributed storage, the costs of data retrieval and storage would also be reduced significantly. DxChain is based on a chains-on-chain architecture which includes one master chain and two side chains. The structure was designed as such in order to solve multiple issues related to data computation, storage, and privacy issues; this would otherwise be difficult to do simultaneously with only one chain. _______________________________________ What are the tokens used for and how can token holders make money? The DX token is the network’s native protocol token. The token will initially be issued as ERC-20 tokens after the crowdsale and will be migrated to the DxChain mainnet after it is launched. There are several uses for the tokens: - DX tokens will serve as a secure and primary method of payment between participants in the network. - Providers of computational and storage resources that are required for running various apps and transactions will be rewarded with DX tokens. - Miners will be rewarded with DX tokens based on the usefulness of work that they passively provide. DX tokens should appreciate in value as more users join and use the network. This is driven by numerous factors, including the number and type of applications available on the platform, user experience, data storage capacity and processing speed, etc. _______________________________________ Opportunities - Concerns over data ownership and privacy is becoming more and more prevalent around the world. The recent enactment of the GDPR in the European Union shows how serious the issue has become for both individuals and governments on legitimate collection and use of personal data. - If the team is successful in decentralizing Hadoop, a distributed file storage and computation solution, we believe it provides a substantial potential. - The team has a strong technical background and relevant working experience in the fields of big data, distributed systems, blockchain research, network security, and so on. _______________________________________ Concerns - Proof of Spacetime is a new concept and no established blockchain is currently using it. It is unclear whether this concept will ultimately work. While PoST doesn’t require expensive mining hardware, there is still the concern that a rich player, such as a nation state or a manufacturer that enjoys cost advantage, could employ a large amount of storage and get to sign most blocks. - Multiple key members of the team are still working at Trustlook. We are unsure how they will allocate their time between the two ventures. _______________________________________ Disclaimer The information in this video is for educational purposes only and is not investment advice. DjangoCon US 2017 - Preventing headaches with linters and automated checks by Flávio Junior While it’s very common to enforce PEP8 code style with tools like flake8, it’s rare for Django projects to use any other types of tools for automated checks. However, linters and automated checks are a good way to enforce code quality beyond code style. Human-based code reviews are great, but if an experienced programmer leaves the organization, all quality-related knowledge they have will be gone. One way to prevent this is to make developers consolidate their knowledge as custom check tools. Instead of repeating to every junior programmer how they should code, experienced developers should write tools to do that for them. Having this kind of “executable knowledge” is great to ensure long-lasting good practices in organizations. Thankfully, Python already has a number of extensible linters and check tools that can be used to consolidate knowledge. Also, Django has the System check framework, which can be used to write custom static validations to Django projects. In this talk, we’ll discuss existing linters and tools, what benefit they bring to Django projects, how to extend them and how to build custom ones. Combined with IDEs, pre-commit hooks, and CI tools, linters can validate code at programming time, commit time, or CI time, thereby ensuring good practices in all development workflow. https://2017.djangocon.us/talks/preventing-headaches-with-linters-and-automated-checks/

Recorded at SpringOne2GX 2014. Speaker: Chris Beams Data / Integration Track Slides: http://www.slideshare.net/SpringCentral/the-revolution-will-not-be-centralizedhow-to-build-a-blockchain-using-spring-to-develop-a-bitcoinlike-virtual-currency Massive government-run data dragnets. Advertising-based "free" cloud services working against the best interests of their users. Giant, unreadable end user license agreements. It seems that everywhere we turn, the walls are closing in on individual privacy and autonomy. The situation is complex. Out of confusion and frustration, many users have already given up. Common refrains are "privacy is dead" and "I've got nothing to hide". But revolution is in the air. The internet and the web are decentralized by design. Protocols like DNS, SMTP and HTTP assume a network of peers, but during the last 15 years—our adolescence with these technologies—we have unintentionally centralized much of the internet's infrastructure. This hasn't been for nefarious purposes; it's been done out of convenience. Having a GMail account is simply much easier than running your own mail server; storing everything in the cloud is easier than maintaining your own backups. As an unintended consequence, we've made surveillance much easier and made invasive ad-based business models the norm. A growing number of technologists are working to re-decentralize the net in surprising and profound ways. Free software and innovative peer-to-peer networks play an important role in this effort, but what may prove to be the most important tool is a new one: cryptocurrency. With bitcoin, we now have a natively digital money; a cash for the web; a currency that is as decentralized and flexible as the rest of the internet was designed to be. At a glance, bitcoin may look like just another payment option, a fad, or a speculative bubble. On closer inspection, one begins to see that it can enable new business models by facilitating previously impossible economic incentives between peers. Once one grasps the fundamentals of cryptocurrency, one sees that its long-term implications and possibilities are as broad and deep as the internet itself. And just like the internet, bitcoin is not a panacea. It is rife with its own problems and faces its own existential threats. In this talk, Chris Beams will share his findings from over two years of research into bitcoin and related technologies: the promise and the peril; how bitcoin may be able to create the first sustainable business models for the development of free software; how privacy may rise from the dead yet; and why the revolution will not be centralized.

Talks at Google in London were delighted to welcome Alex Tapscott to talk about his book Blockchain Revolution, looking at how the technology behind Bitcoin can reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better. Alex can be found on Twitter at: @alextapscott Book on Google Play - with free first chapter! https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Don_Tapscott_Blockchain_Revolution?id=bwz_CwAAQBAJ About the Book: The technology likely to have the greatest impact on the future of the world economy has arrived, and it's not self-driving cars, solar energy, or artificial intelligence. It’s called the blockchain. The first generation of the digital revolution brought us the Internet of information. The second generation powered by blockchain technology is bringing us the Internet of value: a new, distributed platform that can help us reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better. Blockchain is the ingeniously simple, revolutionary protocol that allows transactions to be simultaneously anonymous and secure by maintaining a tamperproof public ledger of value. Though it's the technology that drives bitcoin and other digital currencies, the underlying framework has the potential to go far beyond these and record virtually everything of value to humankind, from birth and death certificates to insurance claims and even votes. Why should you care? Maybe you're a music lover who wants artists to make a living off their art. And those examples are barely the tip of the iceberg. This technology is public, encrypted, and readily available for anyone to use. It's already seeing widespread adoption in a number of areas. For example, forty-two (and counting) of the world's biggest financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Credit Suisse, have formed a consortium to investigate the blockchain for speedier and more secure transactions. As with major paradigm shifts that preceded it, the blockchain will create winners and losers. And while opportunities abound, the risks of disruption and dislocation must not be ignored. About the Author: Alex Tapscott is the CEO and Founder of Northwest Passage Ventures, an advisory firm building industry-leading blockchain businesses. Formerly, Alex was a senior executive at Canaccord Genuity, Canada’s largest independent investment bank. At age 25, he became the firm’s youngest-ever Vice President and in 2014, he founded the firm’s blockchain practice. Over his career, Alex has worked tirelessly for his clients, raising hundreds of millions of dollars in growth capital from a global institutional investor base, and provided sound advice and counsel.
