Whether you’re a 5th grader or a caregiver, or if you smile to get through a tough situation or so that others will smile, too, you hold the power to create a ripple effect of kindness throughout your day. We spent the day with Emory Cook from Rolling Hills elementary school (http://www.fsusd.org/rollinghills) and Justine Chan from Dignity Health to see how smiling can foster human connection without saying a word, and improve the health, well-being, and happiness of you and those around you. In support of the 2017 Great Kindness Challenge, Dignity Health’s more than 65,000 executives, employees, and physicians will be matching students’ good deeds with kind acts in their hospitals and facilities. Every life is a story. Everybody has a chapter we don't read out loud. What if, at any given moment, you had the power to rewrite a line in someone else's chapter? What if, by the simple act of unexpected kindness, you could change the course of another life? Sometimes, all a wounded heart needs to begin healing, is the kindness found in a simple gesture. There's no textbook necessary to learn the language of kindness. Its one the blind can see and the deaf can hear. Never underestimate a single act of your kindness, it has the power to affect lives in ways you may never know. This is The Kindness Effect, a new book by Jill Donovan. The ripple effect... How far can one small act of kindness spread? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxlhzfSQBtg http://trueagape.net/2013/07/24/best-birthday-ever-random-acts-of-kindness/ I dont want to brag about my wife... but if you know anything about her you know that she is awesome! It takes a special woman to laugh at my jokes... So why is 6 afraid of 7... I dont know... Because 7 8 9 hahaha Ok so maybe i laugh a little more than she does... but shes a good sport about it :) Now let me make this as clear as I possibly can... This is in no way shape or form about my wife nor about what she did... And actually she doesnt even know i am making this video... shhhh This video its about you! And how you can make a difference in your world. My wife just celebrated her 25th birthday by doing 25 random acts of kindness... She had been preparing for a few weeks with getting everything ready to go. I knew about some of the ideas... but I didn't know who would get what and how things would work out! I thought it was a very cool idea. I received a text from her mid morning telling me how the first 4 had gone... people's reactions were mixed but everyone was surprised and shocked to say the least! As the day went on I was getting inspired knowing that people's lives were being impacted in a way that we will never know... it was very strange to not be directly involved with the project yet it was having a very big impact on me and I couldn't wait to hear all the stories and experiences she had! Later that afternoon I was at the gym getting my workout in and one of the trainers approached me... he said "your wife" it was almost as if he couldn't find the words to express what he was feeling... Come to find out the trainer was the first person to receive his act of kindness... and he was given 12 hand written motivational quotes bound together with a ring... He was totally blown away and it totally made his morning and rest of the day and possibly the entire week! Here is where it gets exciting... as he read the quotes he realized that each quote was specifically appropriate to individual clients... so when he worked with a client he found the quote that suited their needs the best... I believe original cassies plan was to directly impact one person... but sometimes our plans are so great... so powerful... so awesome that our plan is actually part of a much bigger plan... our ideas become bigger than our self... so much greater than we could have ever imagined! At diner cassie shared all of the stories with me... After hearing all the stories I just couldn't help but smile, laugh at some... and seriously hold back tears on others... It was a truly powerful experience for my wife, myself and anyone else involved. Its the ripple effect... just like if you were to throw a rock into a pool of water... the rings would ripple... The idea that everything is purposeful really changes the way you live. To think that everything that you do has a ripple effect, that every word that you speak, every action that you make affects other people and the planet. Victoria Moran Everyday we have an opportunity to make a difference in the life of someone we come across! And its very likely that your good deed will have a far greater impact than you could have imagined! Have you ever done a random act of kindness... what did you do... how did you feel? Leave a comment below letting me know! like share So this is how it went down... Hello Can i help you They look confused and wondering what cassie is wanting/looking for/needing Cassie then says today for my 25th birthday i am doing 25 random acts of kindness Uh ok... they are still expecting something is up... Id like to give you this... O wow! Boom pattern interrupt! and there word just got rocked! I wish i could have seen their faces as well as how it impacted their life!

What would it look like if one individual takes time out of their day to share an act of love with someone else? How would our society respond by witnessing such acts of love? Let us aim to inspire good works and distribute kindness, so that we may create a domino effect in our culture. Romans 13:8

1 Concept Drop a pebble in a still pond and watch the ripple travel out in an ever expanding ring The Ripple Effect is rooted in the belief that all we are all connected by our shared Humanity. 2 Description of Physics Drop a pebble in a still pond and watch the ripple travel out in an ever expanding ring. Two well known Principles of Physics are Wave Theory and Entrainment. Wave Theory teaches us that a wave will continue to travel out, never changing its initial shape or frequency. It also teaches us that when two waves intersect each other, the height of the effect is the sum of the heights of the two individual waves. Entrainment is the tendency for two vibrating bodies to lock into phase so that they vibrate in harmony. For a full description of the science behind The Ripple Effect, please visit our blog at: http://humanity-healing.blogspot.com/ 3 The Goal The Goal of Humanity Healing™ is to make a lasting difference for positive change by supporting Humanitarian efforts that create sustainable solutions for the World's problems. We believe that through a multifaceted approach of organizing Good Works, Education and Promoting Spiritual growth; we can bring about mutual respect and understanding. We can each send out Ripples of Blessings, Ripples of Social Justice, Ripples of Goodness Ripples of Peace and Ripples of Loving-Kindness past all barriers and across all borders. One kind act can have a ripple effect, and that is exactly the kind of change Orly Wahba wants to start with her organization Life Vest Inside. She discusses her “Act of Kindness” cards -- printed with good deeds to do and pass along. We get a peek at her film that paints an image of the world in the context of kindness. TEDArchive presents previously unpublished talks from TED conferences. Enjoy this unedited talk by Orly Wahba. Filmed at TED2013. NOTE: Comments are disabled on this video. We made this difficult decision for the TED Archive because we believe that a well-moderated conversation allows for better commentary from more people and more viewpoints. Studies show that aggressive and hateful comments silence other commenters and drive them away; unfortunately, YouTube's comment moderation tools are simply not up to the task of allowing us to monitor comments on so many videos at once. Technology gives us more ways to connect than we could possibly imagine even 20 years ago. And as we control the content that is created and shared, it is squarely on our shoulder’s to use social technology responsibly and with the intention to strengthen relationships and leave a positive impact on the world — not just during times of crisis, but every day. Sona Mehring, founder of CaringBridge, the first and most widely used social network focused on connecting with loved ones during a health journey, demonstrates how everyday messages of love, meaning and kindness can start the ripple effect of #SayItForward. Sona Mehring is the founder of CaringBridge, the first and most widely used nonprofit social network dedicated to helping family and friends communicate with and support loved ones during a health journey through the use of free personal websites. CaringBridge first started as an act of kindness for her friends, but it soon became Sona’s passion and eventually her new career. People around the world are now able to share news, receive strength, and coordinate care by creating free personal websites through CaringBridge. Since its creation, more than half a million CaringBridge websites have been visited two billion times. As an author, speaker and community builder, Sona elevates the awareness and use of CaringBridge on a national scale by speaking about improving health outcomes through the power of social support. Sona is the author of Hope Conquers All: Inspiring Stories of Love and Healing from CaringBridge This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
