Space Engineers Tutorial: Planets, Batteries and Mining (Part 1 of a survival tutorial series)

08:15
Having played hours and hours of survival over the years in Space Engineers I thought I would do what I could to help those new to the game that I love. If you're interested in some of the things that are possible with Space Engineers have a look at our machinima series Light Echoes. This video focuses on the very start of your first survival scenario in Space Engineers, from spawn in to the mining of your first ore. It also provides a guide on how to find ore in an efficient manner with the starting lander and your hand drill. If you have any tutorial topics you'd like me to cover in the coming videos please let me know in the comments. If you've got burning questions about how to do something, ask here and I'll do my best to answer or try in the official keen discord as you'll find the community pretty friendly when you're asking for help with something. As always, don't forget to enjoy this awesome (if at times buggy) game! Satisfactory: Satisfactory is a game of factory management and planet exploitation. As an engineer working for FICSIT Inc., you are dropped onto an alien planet with a handful of tools and must harvest the planet's natural resources to construct increasingly complex factories for automating all your resources needs. After you are set up, it will be time to build the Space Elevator and begin Project Assembly, supplying FICSIT with increasingly numerous and complex components for their unknown purposes. The main focus of the game lies in constructing buildings and linking them together with Conveyor Belts so that your factory can handle the entire process of item construction for you, including mining, transport, delivery, and generating power to keep itself running. More advanced engineers will precisely adjust their buildings' clock speed to maximize efficiency. Heigh Ho - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

02:43
Walt Disney's 1937 film: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Lyrics: We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in our mine the whole day through To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what we really like to do It ain't no trick to get rich quick If you dig dig dig with a shovel or a pick In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! Where a million diamonds shine! We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig from early morn till night We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig up everything in sight We dig up diamonds by the score A thousand rubies, sometimes more But we don't know what we dig 'em for We dig dig dig a-dig dig Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho [Chorus] Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho It's home from work we go [Whistle] Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho [Chorus] eigh-ho, Heigh-ho [Whistle] Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho Heigh-ho hum [Chorus three times] Heigh-ho [until fade]

10 Real Tips for Success for Engineering Students | MIT Engineering Professor sharing Best Advice

07:53
Recommended Engineering Books http://amzn.to/2xnwjRg Information credits : Edward Crawley (Professor at MIT) Voice Credits : Reed Salan (CSUF Civil Engineering) - Script - 10 Real Tips for Success for Engineering Students 1. Identify the people who inspire you, and find out what makes them tick. If you love Apple products, Steve Jobs may be your idol, or perhaps you love the Segway and its creator, Dean Kamen. You can easily find out a lot of information about Jobs and Kamen—or just about any other prominent person in technology—so use it to look into what's helped these people and their companies become so successful. Then emulate their good traits in your personal, scholastic, and professional life. 2. Develop a portfolio of projects. Participate in every hands-on, experiential learning opportunity that a balanced schedule allows. This way, you'll have something unique to show a prospective employer (or venture capitalist) when you graduate, while other students will only be able to list their courses. In addition, you'll be far more likely to retain the knowledge you've gained in classes because you'll be applying it and, in the process, boosting your communication and interpersonal skills 3. Learn the value of networking. When it comes to being a leader, whom you know is almost as important as what you know. Attend lectures on your campus and introduce yourself to the speakers. Check with your school's alumni association to get a list of alumni from your program who want to connect with undergraduates. In addition to E-mail, you can use LinkedIn or other social media tools to connect online. But remember: There's no substitute for a traditional, face-to-face meeting, so if you can find a way to meet in person, that's always the best. 4. Work in teams as much as you can. Whether it's creating a solar-powered car, participating in a sport, or writing for the school paper, get involved with an organization that requires a team effort to produce great results. Throughout your career, you can be sure you'll work in teams, and the skills you develop in school will help prepare you to lead teams when you graduate. 5. Seek informal leadership roles. You're always a leader, whether you're officially in charge of a team or not. Sounds counterintuitive, but you can lead from any position in an organization by influencing how people work together and how they make decisions. Usually people think that the leader is the president or the manager, but if you learn how to recognize and deal with various leadership styles from any position in a team, you'll be seen as a leader when you take on your first job or internship. 6. Find your flaws—and fix them. As with any skill, leadership needs constant improvement. When you are part of a team, try to create a way to get feedback from team members, group leaders, and professors. When you have concrete feedback on how people view you, you can work to improve your skills, including communication and leadership. Plus, you'll learn how to accept—and give—constructive criticism. That's absolutely necessary for your future career. 7. Take a business class. As an engineer, it's not enough for you to be technically proficient; you need to have business savvy. If you're going to be a leader, you need to understand what a P&L is (also known as an income statement), read organization charts, know how to negotiate contracts, and be familiar with the myriad other functions that every top engineer needs to know. Otherwise, you won't understand what to do when an accountant, lawyer, or middle manager gets in the way. A business course or two can take you a long way, and these classes are often easier to pass than your calculus course! 8. Take design and other humanities classes. There's a wide world out there beyond problem sets, laboratories, and theory. Take a visual design course so you'll learn to represent ideas graphically. Take a cognitive science course to learn how people interpret the world and understand it. Take a literature course to develop your knowledge and appreciation of the classic books, which will help you write and communicate more effectively. 9. Make your summers productive. Employers place tremendous value on practical experience. Seek out internship opportunities actively and early in your academic career. Try to demonstrate through your internships a series of evolving leadership experiences, and use the internships to build your portfolio of actual projects/products. 10. Recruit and develop your personal board of directors. As an undergraduate, you might feel alone when confronted with hard decisions about the courses to take, jobs to apply for, or even balancing school work and your personal life. You won't feel alone if you develop a personal board of directors just for you. - study tips for engineering students - Image credit "http://www.freepik.com/free-vector/student-reading-illustration_826080.htm" Designed by Freepik

Bolivia, miners and the man-eating mountains in Potosi

42:31
Bolivia is known for their miners and mining industry that flourished at the Cerro Potosì, also known as Cerro Rico or the "rich mountain". Bolivia´s capital city Potosì is one of the highest in the world and home of many miners and their family. What keeps miners doing their dangerous work? Dutch presenter and film maker Stef Biemans travels across the back of the Andes and wonders how people are doing in South America. In the first episode of this documentary series across the back of the Andes he experiences how life is celebrated in a place where for a majority of people it ends early. In Potosí a miner normally does not get older than 45 years. South America is changing. Some people call this continent an investment paradise, others say that it is still really chaotic. In the miners' city of Potosí capitalism was born. Here the first coin was minted with silver from the mine of the 'rich mountain', which is still in use. There is so much silver from this impressive mountain that you could build a bridge to Spain with it. But you could also build a bridge of the bones of deceased miners and slaves. What is left of the wealth that the ´rich mountain` has brought to the people? Presenter Biemans visits together with other miners a mine and experience the life of the workers. Mines are men territory, women are not seen here, therefore the concept of Machismo is totally normal here. Most of the men have big families with seven children. And while they are working long hours in the mine, their wives are at home looking after the children. To survive the hard-working days miners chew coca leaves, that provides them with enough energy. A miner normally gets not older than 45 years. A sad reality, that keeps not away new workers to go down the mines, as they are the one who drive the economy and are celebrated every year. Are you going to live in a different way, when you know, that your life is short? How do people live with the sad reality, that their work will probably kill them? Stef Biemans experiences daily life in Potosì and tries to understand the miners and their will to go on with a dangerous work that mostly costs their life. Space Engineers Survival, Maybe... || E16 - Mega Mining Ship Upgrade || TimmyCarbine

01:19:06
Space Engineers Survival, Maybe... || E16 - Mega Mining Ship Upgrade || TimmyCarbine This Let's Play of Space Engineers is heavily inspired by Splitsie's series. I highly recommend watching his series which can be found here (https://goo.gl/szCxJq). --- The Story --- The scenario is also created by Splitsie (Mod list below) We start the series on an Earth-like planet with a small buggy and a small starter base. We attempt to get a functioning self-sustaining base running, meanwhile Space Pirates dominate the surrounding area with mining facilities and drone factories. Our "goal" is to eliminate the Space Pirates District Headquarters which is heavily fortified as you would expect. As we expand and progress, we will draw attention to ourselves which will result in Drones being sent to attack us periodically. --- The Challenge(s) --- Power Management: Due to our planet lacking Uranium deposits we will be surviving strictly on solar power for most of the playthrough. No such thing as "Over-Engineering": I enjoy Space Engineers most when I'm creating weird and wonderful contraptions designed to achieve a single purpose. So expect me to build things not because it's the most efficient, but because I think it's fun. That's real purdy: Just like when I play any other game which allows creativity be prepared for me to spend hours making something look (what I consider) aesthetically pleasing. Easy Road is boring: As with any game I play, if it's too easy, I'll get bored. Be prepared for me to create new challenges on the fly purely because I think it's fun. --- Mod List --- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1422159196 --- Social Media --- Twitter: https://twitter.com/TimmyCarbine Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TimmyCarbine Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/TimmyCarbine Discord: https://www.discord.gg/q3CrJE4 --- Space Engineers Info --- Game Website: http://www.spaceengineersgame.com Purchase on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/244850/ --- Music & Sound Effects --- In-Game Music & Sounds Effects by: Space Engineers Additional Music by: https://www.kai-engel.com/ http://www.audiomicro.com/ --- About Space Engineers --- Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses (civil and military), pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. Featuring both creative and survival modes, there is no limit to what can be built, utilized and explored. Space Engineers features a realistic, volumetric-based physics engine: everything in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. The game can be played either in single or multiplayer modes. Volumetric objects are structures composed from block-like modules interlocked in a grid. Volumetric objects behave like real physical objects with mass, inertia and velocity. Individual modules have real volume and storage capacity. Space Engineers is inspired by reality and by how things work. Think about modern-day NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and doesn't use technologies that wouldn't be feasible in the near future. Space Engineers concentrates on construction and exploration aspects, but can be played as a survival shooter as well. We expect players will avoid engaging in direct man-to-man combat and instead use their creativity and engineering skills to build war machines and fortifications to survive in space and on planets. Space Engineers shouldn’t be about troops; it should be about the machinery you build.

Satisfactory Experimental - Caterium and Quckwire Production (18000 an Hour) - Episode 19

34:56
Today we continue in Satisfactory and create a powerful caterium and quickwire operation producing 18000 items an hour. Satisfactory is a new game from Coffee Stain Studios, the creators of Goat Simulator and the Sanctum series. Satisfactory is a game of factory management and planet exploitation. Why Early Access? Satisfactory is a big and complex game that can be expanded and refined for a very long time and we believe that there is a community of factory builders out in the world that would love to join us to create this beast of a game together. We want to involve players, see how they play and iterate the game based on that. Going Early Access will help us build an awesome factory-building game and help us focus on the right things moving forward. Approximately how long will Satisfactory be in Early Access? We hope to work on this game for years to come and make something truly special. We are not entirely sure what would qualify as a 1.0 version of Satisfactory, but the game will be in Early Access for at least 1 year, could be longer. What is the current state of the Early Access version? We’ve reached the point in development where we feel ready to open the game up to the public. There are still a bunch of performance, design and visual issues and the game is far from perfect. Having said that the game is in a state where you can have a lot of fun and enjoy tons of hours of gameplay, single or multiplayer. If you are into building factories and adventure in a vast unexplored world, we think that you are going to like Satisfactory a lot! What we are launching with: • 6 tiers full of milestones that unlocks machines, resources, equipment and vehicles • 3 different starting areas/biomes on a large handcrafted world (30km2) • Vehicles with automation capabilities • Equipment and weapons • Alien creatures • Multiplayer (still in a bit funky state but it’s Playable and Fun™) How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? We are planning to at least add the following: • The rest of the FICSIT milestones and tiers • More machines, resources, vehicles, equipment and weapons • Improvements on core gameplay, systems, UI/UX, Quality of Life • Iterate on world, exploration, landmarks, rewards and creatures • Full narrative • More optimization • Dedicated server support • Mod support Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? We expect the price to increase once we go 1.0, but we don’t know for sure. How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? We’ve been running a closed alpha for months up to this point and have somewhat learned how to balance addressing feedback and introducing new content. We will keep on reading the discussions and talking to our community. We use Discord, our own up-vote forum, in-game bug reports, surveys etc. This process is likely something that we will iterate on as well. We have an experimental branch where we want to push in early content for future stable updates for those who want to opt in and help us test it. You can always follow our updates and progress through our different channels; Website, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Discord. Satisfactory Living Roadmap: We have a lot of things we want to do with Satisfactory. Future updates will be a balance of polish, performance-fixes and new features. We have most of the game prototyped in some shape or form, but we want to develop these prototypes further before introducing them to players. Early Access Launch - March 19 The first couple of weeks will focus on patching and hotfixing: • Crashes • Most annoying bugs • Smaller QoL improvements Update #1 - End of April • Quartz Research Chains • Sulfur Research Chains • Conveyor Lifts Update #2 - End of May • Tier 7 (Nuclear and Aluminium) • Trains • Overhaul late game areas • Improvements on core gameplay and systems • The rest of the FICSIT Milestones and Tech Unlocks • More buildings, parts, vehicles and creatures • Complete narrative • More optimization • Mod support Get it here: https://www.satisfactorygame.com/

Old Method Underground Coal Mining (Raniganj coalmine 1989, 64 ende):-Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Movie

01:20
Incredible Story of Raniganj Coalmine, When 220 coal miners working the night shift realized that one of their coal wall blasts had cracked the underground water table, all they could do was run. Instagram:- https://www.instagram.com/sharmashubhamhippop612/?hl=en *Raniganj coal mine STORY* °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° :-https://goo.gl/images/bv2SpR 1). On that fateful day, when the 220 coal miners working the night shift realized that one of their coal wall blasts had cracked the underground water table, all they could do was run. Working closest to the lift shaft, 149 miners were quickly pulled out. Six were killed while 64 lodged themselves into crevices and cavities to escape the onslaught of the water, reports Telegraph. One man swam in the dark for 36 hours straight to reach the lift! No sooner the incident reached the ears of the authorities, the resuce operation began. Since the 64 people were spread across six different locations, six holes were drilled after referring the mine-map. Walkie-talkies to communicate with the trapped miners, along with food and water, were lowered into the mine. A rescue capsule was made from steel and iron, which was then lowered into the mine with the help of a make-shift pulley and one by one each of the miners were brought up, like water from a well. Though this was a joint effort, one man stands out from the rest: Engineer Jaswant Singh Gill who was the Additional Chief Mining Engineer of Coal India Limited. He volunteered to go into the mine, where he would open the door of the capsule, help the nearest miner to get into the capsule and then signal the people above to pull the capusle. 2)He stayed there until each one of the miners was pulled out, despite protests from the state-owned company, which did not want to lose one of its high-ranking officer. Jaswant Singh Gill was later awareded Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak in 1991 and Bhagat Singh Puran award for service to humanity last year. No points for guessing the protagonist of Akshay Kumar’s film! The Raniganj mine, which provided 88% of the country’s coal in the 19th century, now only provides less than a tenth of India’s total coal production, according to India Today. While Raniganj has been relegated to the pages of history, the story of the Raniganj rescue mission is one that will live on as a testimony of the strength of a people poor in wealth but rich in resolve.

Carrying on the music tradition is native son and current Lexington, Kentucky resident, Tyler Childers. Paintsville is located in the Big Sandy River Valley of Johnson County in Eastern Kentucky made famous for its lawlessness, religion, and booze, and a song about a horse thief, a rambling man, and an attempt to gain some good ol’ Appalachian self-justice is what “William Hill” is all about. Following his “Papaw” around to the Kentucky social institutions – church events and barber shops to name a few– as well as a lot of coon hunting with his dad, Tyler has heard a tale or two about the misadventures of a few good ol’ boys and he gives his own spin of these accounts behind a whisky-soaked voice well beyond his young age. This report investigates what is being named the biggest disaster in Brazil's mining history. A horror mudslide swept through the towns and villages in the Gualaxo River Valley, destroying homes, businesses and taking the lives of 19 people. A tailings dam, holding back more than 50 million cubic metres of mining waste collapsed, unleashing a wave of mud several metres high. "The mud dragged me down, I would come up, it would take me down again... I screamed but nobody answered", remembers Priscila Barros, who was pulled four kilometers under the deadly slurry. The mud, containing lead, arsenic and other toxic chemicals, continued down river all the way to the Atlantic coast 600km away. "This mud wave has killed anything that was alive in these water systems", explains Marilene Ramos of the Brazilian Environment Authority. Now Brazilian police are seeking the arrest of 12 of Samarco's executives for negligent homicide and crimes against the environment. "A dam doesn't break by chance. There is repeated, continual negligence in the actions of a company owned by Vale and BHP", says prosecutor Carlos Eduardo Pinto. SimSched Direct Block Scheduler: Overview

13:01
Site: http://www.simsched.com Contact: [email protected] We are here to introduce a novel strategic mine planning tool capable of generating a mine schedule in a single step, intuitively and optimally. SimSched is already making an impact in mining projects, raising the net present value of real projects by more than 15 percent. There is a consensus in the industry, either by methodology or technology, that the majority of current mine plans can’t offer reliable projections of the reality. According to SRK consultancy, almost 80% of mining projects have problems achieving planned production levels and almost 30% never reach a positive cash flow. Through the Direct Block Scheduling technology, or DBS, implemented in SimSched, the specialist can easily obtain multiple scenarios of more realistic plans, since their decisions are optimized and consider operational constraints. The mathematical model behind SimSched also allows the input of probabilistic models and the implementation of constraints that are more adherent to reality. With richer and more reliable information in hands, the manager is in a better position to control the risks and to be more assertive in his decisions. Our technology was able to increase by more than 15%, in the order of 100 million dollars, the NPV of a real project. This demonstrates that investing in a tool like this can return benefits that are several times greater than the cost of implementing it. Our company already provides technology for research projects, consultancies and mining software companies, apart from offering optimized mine scheduling services for third parties. We entered the market in 2014, and since then we managed to attract experienced professionals who have left their testimonies, among them are doctors in mining engineering, Competent Person, and professors. The results are exported in 3d, in excel and as compatible files to import into other software packages. We are at your disposal to verify the results of our software on your data. Please, send an email to [email protected] to schedule a meeting or simply to learn more about the technology and its benefits. You can also find more information in our website www.simsched.com. Thank you!

FUN WITH CONVEYERS - Satisfactory City #33

56:11
"Satisfactory City" There are some self-imposed rules for this playthrough to improve the experience: • Building on Foundations, but must be supported i.e. no floating platforms • Build dedicated factories for each advanced product. Scale each of these upwards • No hand/benchcrafting after a dedicated factory has been created for each product • No hand/benchcrafting of Space Elevator milestones • Belts must have nice 90 degree turns if at all possible Satisfactory Update #1: April: This series is played in the latest experimental version including the follow key additions • Quartz Research Chains • Sulfur Research Chains • Conveyor Lifts Buy the game and support the channel at the same time: https://store.epicgames.com/nilaus-tv/satisfactory The game is currently in Early Access, but already contains more features and game play than many released games.
