This is main pit when BHP finished here they through everything, machines plant, equipment you name it, into the pit and buried it, now it is being removed to gain access to the rich ore. The Iron Ore here is of high quality 67+%, you can weld the rocks together. This mine was opened originally pre WW2 lucky the Japs didn't get into Darwin and come down & get their mits on it......... Things would be dramatically different in Aussi today............any way Koolan Island has some interesting/amazing history worth a look on Wikipedia. The Most Inbred People Of All Time | Random Thursday

Due to their blue skin and their isolated location, they began to inbreed, eventually becoming something of a local legend - the blue hillbillies that live in the woods - until they reappeared in the 1960s. Allentown, New York, is a village in New York State that was cut off from the rest of society after a dam flooded the valley where they lived. They call their community The Hollow, but outsiders call it Allentown because almost everybody there is from the same family. The Habsburgs of Europe were one of the most powerful families in history, ruling over the Holy Roman Empire in Eastern Europe until the early 20th century. But one segment of the Habsburgs in Spain, known as the Spanish Habsburgs, participated in incest and inbreeding for so long that they developed The Habsburg Jaw - a genetic deformity that got so bad that many could barely speak. It was Charles II of Spain that finally put an end to this practice because he was so inbred that he couldn't reproduce. And the Egyptian royal family of ancient Egypt practiced inbreeding for over a thousand years because they believed that the only person who could mate with a pharaoh was someone else from their family - they were living gods after all. By the time King Tutankhamen was born, their lineage was so ruined that he had multiple genetic deformities and died at only 18. Samarium - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:53
"Samarium" is a chemical element with symbol "Sm" and atomic number 62. It is a moderately hard silvery metal that readily oxidizes in air. Being a typical member of the lanthanide series, samarium usually assumes the oxidation state +3. Compounds of samarium are also known, most notably the monoxide SmO, monochalcogenides SmS, SmSe and SmTe, as well as samarium iodide. The last compound is a common reducing agent in chemical synthesis. Samarium has no significant biological role and is only slightly toxic. Samarium was discovered in 1879 by the French chemist Paul Émile Lecoq de Boisbaudran and named after the mineral samarskite from which it was isolated. The mineral itself was earlier named after a Russian mine official, Colonel Vasili Samarsky-Bykhovets, who thereby became the first person to have a chemical element named after him, albeit indirectly. Although classified as a rare earth element, samarium is the 40th most abundant element in the Earth's crust and is more common than such metals as tin. Samarium occurs with concentration up to 2.8% in several minerals including cerite, gadolinite, samarskite, monazite and bastnäsite, the last two being the most common commercial sources of the element. These minerals are mostly found in China, the United States, Brazil, India, Sri Lanka and Australia; China is by far the world leader in samarium mining and production. The major commercial application of samarium is in samarium-cobalt magnets, which have permanent magnetization second only to neodymium magnets; however, samarium compounds can withstand significantly higher temperatures, above 700 C, without losing their magnetic properties due to the alloy's higher Curie point. The radioactive isotope samarium-153 is the major component of the drug samarium lexidronam , which kills cancer cells in the treatment of lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer and osteosarcoma. Another isotope, samarium-149, is a strong neutron absorber and is therefore added to the control rods of nuclear reactors. It is also formed as a decay product during the reactor operation and is one of the important factors considered in the reactor design and operation. Other applications of samarium include catalysis of chemical reactions, radioactive dating and an X-ray laser. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. The Mammals of Australia - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:53
""The Mammals of Australia"" is a three volume work written and published by John Gould between 1845–63. It contains 182 illustrations by the author and its artist H. C. Richter. It was intended to be a complete survey of the novel species of mammals, such as the marsupials, discovered in the colonies of Australia. The author, John Gould, best known for "The Birds of Australia" and other major works of ornithology, visited Australia in 1838. In his introduction, Gould says: It was not until I arrived in the country, and found myself surrounded by objects as strange as if I had been transported to another planet, that I conceived the idea of devoting a portion of my attention to the mammalian class of its extraordinary fauna. During his short stay he made observations on the natural history and employed his skills as a taxidermist to obtain specimens. The publication of this major work by Gould followed his "A Monograph of the Macropodidae or Family of Kangaroos" in 1841. This work was the first comprehensive survey of Australian mammals, and gave an account of their classification and description. Gould also included the indigenous names for the species from the lists he made while in Australia. He used these names to make requests of the local peoples for his specimens, and recorded the regions where the names were used. This conserved a number of common names, such as dibbler , which were later recommended by authorities. The large lithographs reproduced the artwork of Richter, after the drawings and watercolours made in Australia by Gould and his wife, Elizabeth. . These were hand-coloured by a group of artists, led by Gabriel Bayfield, that required the completion of 26,572 plates. The illustrations produced during their visit to Australia were supplemented by the preserved specimens returned to England and detailed the characteristics of the species. These illustrations have become iconic images of the mammals of Australia. Among the best known of the illustrations from the work are the two of "Thylacinus cynocephalus" , copied since its publication and the most frequently reproduced, made more recognizable by Cascade Brewery's appropriation for its label in 1987. The government of Tasmania published a monochromatic reproduction of the same image in 1934, the author Louisa Anne Meredith also copied it for "Tasmanian Friends and Foes" . Indian Ocean - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:48
The "Indian Ocean" is the third largest of the world's oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the water on the Earth's surface. It is bounded by Asia on the north, on the west by Africa, on the east by Australia, and on the south by the Southern Ocean or, depending on definition, by Antarctica. It is named after India. The Indian Ocean is known as "Ratnakara", ""the mine of gems"", in ancient Sanskrit literature and as "Hind Mahasagar" in Hindi and other Indian languages. The borders of the Indian Ocean, as delineated by the International Hydrographic Organization in 1953 included the Southern Ocean but not the marginal seas along the northern rim, but in 2000 the IHO delimited the Southern Ocean separately, which removed waters south of 60°S from the Indian Ocean, but included the northern marginal seas. Meridionally, the Indian Ocean is delimited from the Atlantic Ocean by the 20° east meridian, running south from Cape Agulhas, and from the Pacific Ocean by the meridian of 146°55'E, running south from the southernmost point of Tasmania. The northernmost extent of the Indian Ocean is approximately 30° north in the Persian Gulf. The ocean covers 70,560,000 km2, including the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf but excluding the Southern Ocean, or 19.5% world's oceans; its volume is 264,000,000 km3 or 19.8% of oceans volume; it has an average depth of 3741 m and a maximum depth of 7906 m. The ocean's continental shelves are narrow, averaging 200 km in width. An exception is found off Australia's western coast, where the shelf width exceeds 1000 km. The average depth of the ocean is 3890 m. Its deepest point is Diamantina Deep in Diamantina Trench, at 8047 m deep; also sometimes considered is Sunda Trench, at a depth of 7258 -. North of 50° south latitude, 86% of the main basin is covered by pelagic sediments, of which more than half is globigerina ooze. The remaining 14% is layered with terrigenous sediments. Glacial outwash dominates the extreme southern latitudes. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. SUBSCRIBE TODAY Disclaimer: This video is for your information only. The Dark Side of the Diamond Trade: Facts, Finance, History, Economics, Marketing (2002)

01:03:20
Marketing has significantly affected the image of diamond as a valuable commodity. About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0802713688/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0802713688&linkCode=as2&tag=tra0c7-20&linkId=51518532ca9e4d54418334353e4d986f N. W. Ayer & Son, the advertising firm retained by De Beers in the mid-20th century, succeeded in reviving the American diamond market. And the firm created new markets in countries where no diamond tradition had existed before. N. W. Ayer's marketing included product placement, advertising focused on the diamond product itself rather than the De Beers brand, and associations with celebrities and royalty. Without advertising the De Beers brand, De Beers was advertising its competitors' diamond products as well.[74] De Beers' market share dipped temporarily to 2nd place in the global market below Alrosa in the aftermath of the global economic crisis of 2008, down to less than 29% in terms of carats mined, rather than sold.[75] The campaign lasted for decades but was effectively discontinued by early 2011. De Beers still advertises diamonds, but the advertising now mostly promotes its own brands, or licensed product lines, rather than completely "generic" diamond products.[75] The campaign was perhaps best captured by the slogan "a diamond is forever".[7] This slogan is now being used by De Beers Diamond Jewelers,[76] a jewelry firm which is a 50%/50% joint venture between the De Beers mining company and LVMH, the luxury goods conglomerate. Brown-colored diamonds constituted a significant part of the diamond production, and were predominantly used for industrial purposes. They were seen as worthless for jewelry (not even being assessed on the diamond color scale). After the development of Argyle diamond mine in Australia in 1986, and marketing, brown diamonds have become acceptable gems.[77][78] The change was mostly due to the numbers: the Argyle mine, with its 35,000,000 carats (7,000 kg) of diamonds per year, makes about one-third of global production of natural diamonds; 80% of Argyle diamonds are brown. Historically, diamonds were found only in alluvial deposits in Guntur and Krishna district of the Krishna River delta in Southern India.[89] India led the world in diamond production from the time of their discovery in approximately the 9th century BC[4][90] to the mid-18th century AD, but the commercial potential of these sources had been exhausted by the late 18th century and at that time India was eclipsed by Brazil where the first non-Indian diamonds were found in 1725.[4] Currently, one of the most prominent Indian mines is located at Panna.[91] Diamond extraction from primary deposits (kimberlites and lamproites) started in the 1870s after the discovery of the Diamond Fields in South Africa.[92] Production has increased over time and now an accumulated total of 4,500,000,000 carats (900,000 kg) have been mined since that date.[93] Twenty percent of that amount has been mined in the last five years, and during the last 10 years, nine new mines have started production; four more are waiting to be opened soon. Most of these mines are located in Canada, Zimbabwe, Angola, and one in Russia.[93] In the U.S., diamonds have been found in Arkansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.[94][95] In 2004, the discovery of a microscopic diamond in the U.S. led to the January 2008 bulk-sampling of kimberlite pipes in a remote part of Montana.[95] Today, most commercially viable diamond deposits are in Russia (mostly in Sakha Republic, for example Mir pipe and Udachnaya pipe), Botswana, Australia (Northern and Western Australia) and the Democratic Republic of Congo.[96] In 2005, Russia produced almost one-fifth of the global diamond output, reports the British Geological Survey. Australia boasts the richest diamantiferous pipe, with production from the Argyle diamond mine reaching peak levels of 42 metric tons per year in the 1990s.[94][97] There are also commercial deposits being actively mined in the Northwest Territories of Canada and Brazil.[82] Diamond prospectors continue to search the globe for diamond-bearing kimberlite and lamproite pipes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond

These deposits form a mineralized package that is of economic interest to the miner. Ores recovered by mining include metals, coal, oil shale, gemstones, limestone, chalk, dimension stone, rock salt, potash, gravel, and clay. Mining is required to obtain any material that cannot be grown through agricultural processes, or created artificially in a laboratory or factory. Mining in a wider sense includes extraction of any non-renewable resource such as petroleum, natural gas, or even water. Mining of stones and metal has been a human activity since pre-historic times. Modern mining processes involve prospecting for ore bodies, analysis of the profit potential of a proposed mine, extraction of the desired materials, and final reclamation of the land after the mine is closed. De Re Metallica, Georgius Agricola, 1550, Book I, Para. 1Mining operations usually create a negative environmental impact, both during the mining activity and after the mine has closed. Hence, most of the world's nations have passed regulations to decrease the impact. Work safety has long been a concern as well, and modern practices have significantly improved safety in mines. Levels of metals recycling are generally low. Unless future end-of-life recycling rates are stepped up, some rare metals may become unavailable for use in a variety of consumer products. Due to the low recycling rates, some landfills now contain higher concentrations of metal than mines themselves.

Creative Commons License for Kevin MacLeod, Link... http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/legalcode Information from... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_Pepsi Crystal Pepsi is a soft drink made by PepsiCo from 1992-1993, and briefly in December 2015 in the United States, it was also sold for a short time in Canada and Australia. Crystal Pepsi was sold for a longer time in Europe during the early 1990s. The drink was re-released in late 2015 as a promotion to go along with the launch of Pepsi's new signature smartphone app Pepsi Pass. Pepsi currently has no plans to start selling Crystal Pepsi in stores. History In the early 1990s, a marketing fad equating clarity with purity began with the remake of Ivory soap from its classic milky solution; the idea spread to many companies, including PepsiCo. Crystal Pepsi was marketed as a caffeine-free "clear alternative" to normal colas, equating clarity with purity and health. Its marketing slogan was "You've never seen a taste like this". In 1992, PepsiCo introduced Crystal Pepsi to test markets in Denver, Sacramento, Dallas, and Providence, and the product generated a positive response. Pleased with the results, PepsiCo launched the cola on April 12, 1992, and began to sell it nationwide in 1993. A large marketing campaign was launched, for which the company invented the world's first photo-realistic, computer-generated bus wrap printing. A series of television advertisements featuring Van Halen's hit song "Right Now" premiered on national television on January 31, 1993, during Super Bowl XXVII. Another marketing ploy was to give out full sized sample bottles with the Sunday paper deliveries such as the Boston Globe in Massachusetts. In its first year, Crystal Pepsi captured a full percentage point of U.S. soft drink sales, approximately $474 million. Coca-Cola followed suit by launching Tab Clear on December 14, 1992. Initial sales were good but quickly fell.[citation needed] By fall 1993, Pepsi pulled the drink off the market, and the final batches were delivered to retailers during the first few months of 1994. Pepsi returned several months later with a reformulated citrus drink titled Crystal From Pepsi, but that was short-lived as well. According to Coca-Cola Chief Marketing Officer Sergio Zyman, Tab Clear was an intentionally "suicidal", "kamikaze" effort to create an unpopular beverage that was positioned as an analogue of Crystal Pepsi in order to "kill both in the process". The "born to die" strategy included using the poor-performing Tab brand rather than Coke, labeling the product as a "sugar free" diet drink to confuse consumers into thinking Crystal Pepsi had no sugar, and marketing the product as if it were "medicinal". Zyman said "Pepsi spent an enormous amount of money on the brand and, regardless, we killed it. Both of them were dead within six months." Pepsi Clear In 2005, a new clear Pepsi was sold in Mexico as Pepsi Clear for a limited time. On August 22, 2008, PepsiCo filed for trademarks on the product names "Pepsi Clear" and "Diet Pepsi Clear".

Yanuyanu ko Rabe

02:47
This Fijian Song is about the Island of Rabi (or Rabe). The Banaban people of Ocean Island were displaced here in 1945 as a result of phosphate mining. Video snippets from Mark Samala: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghMIbtNFlNQ and Banaban Virgin Coconut Oil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ1lYeD5Gjk&t=7s Rabi (pronounced Rambi]) is a volcanic island in northern Fiji. It is an outlier to Taveuni (5 kilometers west), in the Vanua Levu Group. It covers an area of 66.3 square kilometers, reaching a maximum altitude of 463 meters and has a shoreline of 46.2 kilometers. With a population of around 5,000, Rabi is home to the Banabans who are the indigenous landowners of Banaba Island; the indigenous Fijian community that formerly lived on Rabi was moved to Taveuni after the island was purchased by the Banabans. The original inhabitants still maintain their links to the island, and still use the Rabi name in national competitions. Prior to the Banaban resettlement on Rabi, the island was owned and used as a copra plantation by the Lever’s Pacific Plantations Pty Ltd. At the beginning of World War II, the British government purchased the island with phosphate royalties from Banaba, in the quest to relocate the Banabans from Banaba. At the end of World War II, Kiribati's (and Fiji's) British colonial rulers decided to resettle most of Banaba's population on Rabi Island, because of the ongoing devastation of Banaba caused by phosphate mining - or, as some would say, to get them out of the way of the mining. Some have since returned, but the majority have remained on Rabi or elsewhere in Fiji. The Banabans came to Fiji in three major waves, with the first group of 703, including 318 children, arriving on the BPC vessel, Triona, on 15 December 1945. Accompanying them were 300 other I-Kiribati. The Banabans had been collected from Japanese internment camps on various islands; they were not given the option of returning to Banaba, on the grounds that the Japanese had destroyed their houses - this was not true. They were told that there were houses waiting for them on Rabi: in fact they were given tents to live in and food rations which lasted for only two months. It was the middle of the hurricane season, and they were still weak from years of Japanese imprisonment: 40 of the oldest Banabans died. They were joined by a second wave between 1975 and 1977, with a final wave arriving between 1981 and 1983, following the ending of phosphate mining in 1979. Recognizing the lack of opportunities for Banabans in their homeland, the Rabi Council assisted the remaining population to move to Rabi after 1981. - Wikipedia article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabi_Island

Tellurium - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:09
"Tellurium" is a chemical element with symbol "Te" and atomic number 52. A brittle, mildly toxic, rare, silver-white metalloid. Tellurium is chemically related to selenium and sulfur. It is occasionally found in native form, as elemental crystals. Tellurium is far more common in the universe as a whole than it is on Earth. Its extreme rarity in the Earth's crust, comparable to that of platinum, is partly due to its high atomic number, but also due to its formation of a volatile hydride which caused the element to be lost to space as a gas during the hot nebular formation of the planet. Tellurium was discovered in the Habsburg Empire, in 1782 by Franz-Joseph Müller von Reichenstein in a mineral containing tellurium and gold. Martin Heinrich Klaproth named the new element in 1798 after the Latin word for "earth", "tellus". Gold telluride minerals are the most notable natural gold compounds. However, they are not a commercially significant source of tellurium itself, which is normally extracted as a by-product of copper and lead production. Commercially, the primary use of tellurium is in alloys, foremost in steel and copper to improve machinability. Applications in CdTe solar panels and as a semiconductor material also consume a considerable fraction of tellurium production. Tellurium has no biological function, although fungi can incorporate it in place of sulfur and selenium into amino acids such as tellurocysteine and telluromethionine. In humans, tellurium is partly metabolized into dimethyl telluride, 2 Te, a gas with a garlic-like odor which is exhaled in the breath of victims of tellurium toxicity or exposure. Al Fayed: The British Dracula Family, GOLD Digger, Crocodile Wife [Read Description!]

02:24
All Reptilian accusations: 1. Count Dracula was a real person, a Romanian Prince. He was part of an old secret order, the Order of the Dragon. The Dragon is a reptilian variation, especially used in the Asian world. The Asian leaders claimed the throne for having Dragon blood (what in Europe is known as Blue Blood). Also, the home of the Reptilian species is shaped like a dragon and is called the Draco Constellation. Count Dracula's father was named Vlad Dracul. Drac (Draco) means Devil in Romanian, and Dracul means the Devil. Remember, the devil is a serpent in the bible, a reptilian figure who deceived mankind. Their royal seal was of course, a dragon (sometimes show with a Sumerian-God cross -later called Templar Cross- on its back): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Dragon_order_insignia.jpg 2. Gold Diggers is also a reptilian accusation, for the first humans ever to live on Earth where gold miners. Before being "hunters and gatherers". But WHY?. Gold could not have been used by the first humans for anything. Why would they put so much effort to mine for a metal without use? Not to mention they did not have the knowledge or tools to mine it in the first place. Article: http://HumansAreFree.com/2011/01/oldest-metropolis-on-earth-was-built-by.html Search for our True history, the oldest cities on Earth have been built around gold mines and the first humans where gold miners. Including the first Sumerians and Africans. Also, both the Sumerian and African stories tell of Reptilian extraterrestrials who came to Earth and genetically modified humans to use them as slaves. More recently, I discovered the same reptilian-first humans-gold connection in Australia. The same story everywhere. 3. Crocodile wife is probably the easiest Reptilian-Connection. 4. Shocking or not, the Royal British Family invested a lot in Transylvania, Romania lately. The exact home of blood-drinking Count Dracula. And even more shocking is Charles' latest interview where he Proudly claims to be Dracula's descendant. "The genealogy shows that I am descended from Vlad the Impaler," Charles said. Also, Charles said that he is interested to become Romania's King, if accepted. Later that evening top ranking Romanian politicians and journalists said that after Ceausescu's execution, the plan was for the British Royal Family to take Romania's crown.

Mineral exploration - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:19
"Mineral exploration" is the process of finding ores to mine. Mineral exploration is a much more intensive, organised and professional form of mineral prospecting and, though it frequently uses the services of prospecting, the process of mineral exploration on the whole is much more involved. Mineral exploration methods vary at different stages of the process depending on size of the area being explored, as well as the density and type of information sought. Aside from extraplanetary exploration, at the largest scale is a geological mineral Province , which may be sub-divided into Regions. At the smaller scale are mineral Prospects, which may contain several mineral Deposits. Area selection is a crucial step in professional mineral exploration. Selection of the best, most prospective, area in a mineral field, geological region or terrain will assist in making it not only possible to find ore deposits, but to find them easily, cheaply and quickly. Area selection is based on applying the theories behind ore genesis, the knowledge of known ore occurrences and the method of their formation, to known geological regions via the study of geological maps, to determine potential areas where the particular class of ore deposit being sought may exist. Often new styles of deposits may be found which reveal opportunities to find look-alike deposit styles in rocks and terrains previously thought barren, which may result in a process of pegging of leases in similar geological settings based on this new model or methodology. This behaviour is particularly well exemplified by exploration for Olympic Dam style deposits, particularly in South Australia and worldwide based on models of IOCG formation, which results in all coincident gravity and magnetic anomalies in appropriate settings being pegged for exploration. Woomera, South Australia - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:15
"Woomera" is an outback town in the far north of South Australia established in 1947 with a population of 216 . It was established in 1947 as a Department of Defence rocket testing range. Woomera Village has always been a Defence owned and operated facility. Since its construction over 1947-53, it has essentially operated as a 'township' but always under a Defence model rather than a local government model. The 'Woomera Board', staffed by members of the Defence community at Woomera 'elected' to the Board by town residents has essentially acted in the role normally provided by a local government council. However, the focus of the Board's activities today is really one of welfare for the small permanent community and the large number of transit Defence personnel who deploy to Woomera each year. The main operation of the Base is now co-managed by the RAAF's Combat Support Group and the Defence Support and Reform Group . CSG focus on the operational aspects of the base's role, while DSRG focuses on ensuring the base's facilities and general infrastructure remains fit for the purpose it is needed to support the Range's activities. RAAF Base Woomera, and in particular, 'Woomera Village', lies in the extreme south-east corner of the Woomera Prohibited Area Z . The WPA essentially defines the ground area of the Woomera Range Complex, which, in simple terms, is itself situated in the "north-west pastoral region" of South Australia. The base lies within the bounds of the Woomera Prohibited Area with the northern sector located within the 'Red Zone' of the WPA, while the southern sector is located within a 'Green Zone' area of the WPA. (known internationally as Tim Horton's Cafe and Bake Shop) is a Canadian multinational fast casual restaurant known for its coffee and doughnuts. It is also Canada's largest fast food service with over 3,000 stores nationwide. It was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario, by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton and Jim Charade, after an initial venture in hamburger restaurants. In 1967, Horton partnered with investor Ron Joyce, who assumed control over operations after Tim Horton died in 1974, and expanded the chain into a multi-million dollar franchise. Charade left the organization in 1966 and briefly returned in 1970 and 1993 through 1996. Tim Hortons franchises spread rapidly and eventually overtook McDonald's as Canada's largest food service operator. The company opened twice as many Canadian outlets as McDonald's and system-wide sales also surpassed those of McDonald's Canadian operations as of 2002. The chain accounted for 22.6% of all fast food industry revenues in Canada in 2005. Tim Hortons commands 76% of the Canadian market for baked goods (based on the number of customers served) and holds 62% of the Canadian coffee market (compared to Starbucks, in the number two position, at 7%). In November 2010, Tim Hortons extended Interac debit payment system acceptance to most of its stores. The company previously began accepting Interac in its stores in Western Canada in 2003 and, later, MasterCard and MasterCard PayPass across most of its stores in 2007. The company often indicated the delay of broader or wider electronic payment acceptance was to "ensure speed of service." In 2012, Tim Hortons began accepting Visa cards, and in 2013, began accepting American Express cards.

In this series, I want to continue my education by digging deeper into the lives and careers of my guests to try and learn how they think. I want to understand the experiences that have shaped them, the failures they bounced back from, and the lessons that those failures have taught them. And I want to break down their success to find out what sets them apart. I'm not looking for trade ideas or guesses about an unknowable future, but rather knowledge, accumulated over the course of careers to try and make me a better investor. And I want to share those conversations with you. Several years ago, I was introduced to my guest today by mutual friends who'd entrusted a significant portion of their savings to. This man, they told me, invest in a way which is not only unlike the methods employed by 99% of money managers today, but also with an integrity and a methodology which is a throwback to a time which is sadly almost vanished. In the intervening period, as I've gotten to know my guest better, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to persuade him to sit down with me and share both his experience and his investment philosophy with the Real Vision audience. Sadly, each of my invitations has been met with a very polite, but very firm, no thank you. This was no surprise to me. My guest has never before been interviewed, either in writing or on camera, and for good reason. He's a private man who prefers to spend his time reading and thinking, who invests far from the spotlight, and with no care for either mainstream opinion or consensus strategies. A year ago, I finally got to meet my guest, and I spent an evening I will never forget listening to him talk about how he sees the world and how he thinks about the discipline of investing. That meeting made me more determined than ever to try and persuade him to break his silence and give others the chance to learn from him as I had done. Now, three years after I first approached him, he's very graciously agreed to talk to me in front of the Real Vision cameras. And so I'm excited to be traveling to the Swiss Alps to discover how his framework has evolved over the years and see how he looks at the process of investing that which he considers permanent, irreplaceable capital. So please join me for a conversation with Tony Deden. There are going to people that watch this who know you, and they're probably sitting there thinking, why the hell is Tony Deden doing it? And then they're going to people that don't know who, after this conversation, are going to go, why the hell do I not know Tony Deden? So I know this is the first time you've done one of these and I really appreciate the fact that you've agreed to do it, because there's so many things I want to talk to you about.

Helium-3 - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:32
"Helium-3" is a light, non-radioactive isotope of helium with two protons and one neutron, in contrast with two neutrons in common helium. Its hypothetical existence was first proposed in 1934 by the Australian nuclear physicist Mark Oliphant while he was working at the University of Cambridge Cavendish Laboratory. Oliphant had performed experiments in which fast deuterons collided with deuteron targets . Helium-3 was thought to be a radioactive isotope until helions were also found in samples of natural helium, which is mostly helium-4, taken both from the terrestrial atmosphere and from natural gas wells. Helium-3 occurs as a primordial nuclide, escaping from the Earth's crust into the atmosphere and into outer space over millions of years. Helium-3 is also thought to be a natural nucleogenic and cosmogenic nuclide, one produced when lithium is bombarded by natural neutrons. Those are released by spontaneous fission and by nuclear reactions with cosmic rays. Some of the helium-3 found in the terrestrial atmosphere is also a relic of atmospheric and underwater nuclear weapons testing, conducted by the three big nuclear powers before 1963. Most of this comes from the decay of tritium , which decays into helium-3 with a half life of 12.3 years. Furthermore, some nuclear reactors periodically release some helium-3 and tritium into the atmosphere. The nuclear reactor disaster at Chernobyl released a huge amount of radioactive tritium into the atmosphere, and smaller accidents have caused smaller releases. Furthermore, significant amounts of tritium and helium-3 have been deliberately produced in national arsenal nuclear reactors by the irradiation of lithium-6. The tritium is used to "boost" nuclear weapons, and some of this inevitably escapes during its production, transportation, and storage. Hence, helium-3 enters the atmosphere both through its direct release and through the radioactive decay of tritium. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. One of Canada's largest fast-food restaurant chains, the franchise sells food items, including hamburgers, chicken, French fries and soft drinks all across the country. McDonald's is known for its high fat and calorie foods, but it also has alternatives such as salads, juices and milk. McDonald's was previously Canada's largest food service operator before being overtaken by Tim Hortons in 2005. The slogans used in Canada are "i'm lovin' it" (in English) and "c'est ça que j'm" (in French). The company was founded by Chicago-born George Cohon. The first store opened in 1968 as the Western Canadian franchisee and operated with the U.S. operations. Cohon was the Eastern Canadian franchise and opened his store in 1968. In 1971, Cohon merged the two operations to one national operation. Cohon was responsible for developing the eastern Canadian franchises. The first McDonald's restaurant in Canada was opened in 1967 in Richmond, British Columbia by western franchise owners. It was also the first McDonald's restaurant outside of the United States. In 2007, McDonald's Canada had 1,400 stores (including Walmart Canada locations) in Canada, and more than 77,000 Canadian employees.

It is native to Asia and Europe, and widely naturalized in Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Atriplex hortensis is a hardy, annual plant, with an erect, branching stem, varying in height from two to six feet, according to the variety and soil. The leaves are variously shaped, but somewhat oblong, comparatively thin in texture, and slightly acidic to the taste; the flowers are small and obscure, greenish or reddish, corresponding in a degree with the color of the foliage of the plant; the seeds are small, black, and surrounded with a thin, pale-yellow membrane. They retain their vitality for three years. The garden orache has a salty, spinach-like taste. The leaves are used cooked or in salads. It was commonly grown in Mediterranean regions from early times until spinach became the more favored leaf vegetable. The leaves appear in red, white and green varieties. It is commonly grown as a warm-weather alternative to spinach because it is more tolerant of heat and slower to bolt in warm weather. The green leaves were once used to color pasta in Italy. ⟹ Red Orach | Atriplex hortensis | A BEAUTIFUL PLANT! https://youtu.be/9kn85_YDQTU
Bedlington Terrier - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:04
The "Bedlington Terrier" is a breed of small dog named after the mining town of Bedlington, Northumberland in North East England. Originally bred to hunt vermin in mines, the Bedlington Terrier has since often been used in dog racing and in conformation shows numerous dog sports, and as a companion dog. It is closely related to the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Whippet and Otterhound. It is described as a very versatile yet contradictory dog, being both good with children and "fit to kill any other dog of his weight". They have powerful swimming skills, comparable to those of water dogs such as the Newfoundland, and are noted for being very quick and having high endurance. Bedlingtons are noted for their similarity in appearance to lambs. The dogs have blue, liver or sandy colouration, all three of which may have tan points. Their fur forms a distinctive top knot on the dog's head. Originally known as the Rothbury or Rodbury Terrier, the name "Bedlington Terrier" was not applied to the breed until 1825, but some dogs have pedigrees that can be traced back as far as 1782. The first dog shows with a class for Bedlington Terriers was held in 1870 at Bedlington. Bedlington Terriers shown at early shows were frequently dyed to improve the look of their fur. In 1948, a Bedlington Terrier known as Rock Ridge Night Rocket won best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The breed has a high instance of copper toxicosis, but with the exception of eye problems, it is mostly free from health complaints. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. Ben Carlin - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:20
"Frederick Benjamin" ""Ben"" "Carlin" was an Australian adventurer who was the first and only person to circumnavigate the world in an amphibious vehicle. Born in Northam, Western Australia, Carlin attended Guildford Grammar School in Perth, and later studied mining engineering at the Kalgoorlie School of Mines. After qualifying as an engineer, he worked on the Goldfields before in 1939 emigrating to China to work in a British coal mine. In the Second World War, Carlin was posted to the Indian Army Corps of Engineers, serving in India, Italy, and throughout the Middle East. After his discharge from service in 1946, he emigrated to the United States with his American wife, Elinore . Sparked by an idea he had had whilst in the military, Carlin proposed that the couple honeymoon by crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a modified Ford GPA , which they named the "Half-Safe". Beginning their trip in Montreal, Canada, the Carlins finally completed the transatlantic crossing in 1951, after unsuccessful attempts. From there, they travelled to Europe, temporarily settling in Birmingham to raise more money. They resumed their journey in 1954, travelling overland through the Middle East before arriving in Calcutta. After a short fundraising trip to Australia, Carlin's wife left to return to the United States. He resumed the journey with new partners, travelling through South-East Asia and the Far East to the northern tip of Japan, and then to Alaska. After an extended tour through the United States and Canada, he and "Half-Safe" finally returned to Montreal, having travelled over 17,000 km by sea and 62,000 km by land during a ten-year journey. Following Carlin's death in 1981, "Half-Safe" was acquired by Guildford Grammar, his old school, where it remains on display. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. Let's play Aurora 4x Scenario - part 05 "It's not so bad"

13:48
Logistics, logistics, logistics. That is what we are all about here. And I didn't do that much in these episodes of it as I could, I admit that. But the wise people say - start small, end up being big. We are carefully getting information together about our expenses / income and our economy is actually not looking as bad as I thought originally. As a side note: as it seems several of you are doubtful about my plan to chase the comets. Well you should be, it is OK. But if we are able to build a fast enough transport ship/ships we will be able to chase down and mine comets who have (by far!) the best amount of accessible resources than it is well worth it. Sure, Venus is a great idea in the long run but remember that we would mine only about 1/5 of our mines capacity. On a comet this number can get close to 5/6 easily. Which is why I am pushing towards that so much as it gives us the same amount in 1/5 of the necessary expenses (new ship design and production excluded). Also I think this is a good place for a review of our current situation. What have we learned and make a conclusion for the next episodes: a) We have enough wealth to keep going if our production is severally reduced - we are not going bankrupt no matter what (THANK GOD!) b) We have quite a lot of useful ships - Personnel transports will be great when it comes to hauling our officers as we did now, transport task groups are capable of traversing the space and thus creating our first shipping lines and we even have one capable population transport which is set to transfer population under the command of a skilled captain! c) Mining is desperately below out current needs but should hold until we get some more (automated) mines up. Priority is definitely duranium and sorium - a good source of this resource could yield us between 800 and 1200 tons of each every year (with the 10 automated mines we are building currently) which should be more than enough to start slowly reactivating production lines and creating first connections to our more distant places. And I am not even talking about getting the more rare minerals from the sources. So basically Project Restoration is well under way and we will finish it by hopefully finding a good comet and planting our automated mines on them. A yearly or bi-yearly trip will then yield us enough resources to keep our economy chumming at low level and we can move to expanding our production elsewhere. Preferably more comets which would allow better usage of the new transport ship we will have to build and operate to make this happen. And as far as our current fleet goes I think we will be able to utilize it well with the exception of the small defensive shuttles we have - they cost us way too much and provide almost to defensive capability due to their limited range. But we will see how desperate for resources we become. From the wiki: Aurora is a 4X (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, and eXterminate) science fiction strategy game. Players develop their interstellar empire from the humble beginnings on their homeworld to conquer the universe, or be pummeled into the ashes of history by opposing races. Some say it has the graphical charm of an income tax assistant software from the late nineties, but a playing depth that more than rivals any commercial 4X game. Aurora is different because it places emphasis on fleet operations and detailed tactical combat. The game is under constant development and there is an active and friendly player community in the forum that will help you with any question or problem you might encounter.
