LandCorp | Newman Revitalisation Fly Through - Part 1
Newman, a key service centre for some of the world's largest iron ore mines, is located 1,186km north of Perth. Due to significant growth in the resources sector, the demand for homeowner and rental accommodation in Newman has risen dramatically. In response to the Shared vision of the Shire of East Pilbara (SoEP) and the State Government to modernise and transform Newman, the Newman Revitalisation Project (NRP) was initiated. LandCorp is working in conjunction with the Shire of East Pilbara and the State Government to revitalise the town centre and provide a sustainable and functional Town Centre that will help make Newman a wonderful place to visit and live. To ensure community and business needs are met, LandCorp has recently released 44 lots in the East Newman Residential Estate with over 150 more lots scheduled to be developed over the next few years. The estate offers quality and diversity of land choice, encourages excellence in building design and delivers energy and water efficient housing that is well suited to Newman's demanding climate. LandCorp is also working to develop a vacant parcel of land near Newman's town centre into a Mixed Business Precinct. This will provide a location for small, medium and large business to operate from and support the diversification of Newman's economy. Strategic Industrial Areas - LandCorp [Mandarin Version]
Led by the Department of State Development and delivered by LandCorp, Strategic Industrial Areas (SIAs) are industrial land areas designed for investment in downstream processing and other heavy or strategic industrial activities. SIAs are located close to Western Australia’s abundant resources and connected to key infrastructure such as roads, rail and ports. Investment in one of our SIAs could place you alongside some of the world’s largest resource companies, including Chevron, BP, Shell, Woodside, BHP Billiton or Yara. As Australia’s predominant State for the export of gas, iron ore, petroleum and other minerals, Western Australia is well positioned to supply the Asian region and beyond. Proponents interested in locating in an SIA should contact the Department of State Development or LandCorp to discuss their project in more detail. Come and invest in the economic powerhouse that is the State of Western Australia.

It is bounded by the Indian Ocean to the north and west, and the Southern Ocean to the south, the Northern Territory to the north-east and South Australia to the south-east. Western Australia is Australia's largest state, with a total land area of 2,529,875 square kilometres (976,790 sq mi), and the second-largest country subdivision in the world, surpassed only by Russia's Sakha Republic. The state has about 2.6 million inhabitants – around 11% of the national total – of whom the vast majority (92%) live in the south-west corner, 79% of the population living in the Perth area, leaving the remainder of the state sparsely populated. The first European visitor to Western Australia was the Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog, who visited the Western Australian coast in 1616. The first European settlement of Western Australia occurred following the landing by Major Edmund Lockyer on 26 December 1826 of an expedition on behalf of the New South Wales colonial government. He established a convict-supported military garrison at King George III Sound, at present-day Albany, and on 21 January 1827 formally took possession of the western third of the continent for the British Crown. This was followed by the establishment of the Swan River Colony in 1829, including the site of the present-day capital, Perth. York was the first inland settlement in Western Australia. Situated 97 kilometres (60 miles) east of Perth, it was settled on 16 September 1831.Western Australia achieved responsible government in 1890, and federated with the other British colonies in Australia in 1901. Today its economy mainly relies on mining, agriculture and tourism. The state produces 46% of Australia's exports. Western Australia is the second-largest iron ore producer in the world.
