Water leaking into an RV is an insidious threat, with the potential to cause extensive damage before it's ever detected. Routine checks of your Dicor self-leveling lap sealant are the best precaution! The RV featured in this video was purchased used by good friends of ours, and it didn't take long for it to become apparent that water had been leaking into an unprotected seam for some time. Routine checking and patching of the Dicor self-leveling lap sealant is the best way to prevent a potentially (very) expensive headache. A funny and touching account of the imaginative Mr. Polly who, bored and trapped in his conventional life, makes a U-turn –- and changes everything. H.G. Wells’ early life as the son of a semi-insolvent shopkeeper and as a draper’s apprentice fueled his novels of the lower middle class: The Wheels of Chance (1896), Kipps (1905), and The History of Mr. Polly (1910). These works evoke the desperation of apprentices, clerks, and small traders in their monotonous toil behind shop counters. And, like Mr. Polly, his protagonists make a break from their mundane lives with more or less success. H. G. Wells (1866-1946) was a prolific writer in history, general and science fiction, and politics. He was a lifelong socialist. (Summary by Adrian Praetzellis) The History of Mr. Polly H. G. Anderson, Indiana (October 11, 2012) Like many cities and towns across the U.S. the city of Anderson has found itself faced with the necessity of trimming its budget. And like so many other cities and towns Anderson has elected to follow the same course other areas have by payroll expenses. Some of those who may find themselves directly affected at the end of this month could be twenty-two firefighters and seven city police officers. Supporters came to the Anderson City Building to show their support several hours before the city council. Signs in hand they stood along the curb in from of the city building. Passers by acknowledged their efforts, some talking with them as they waited for the traffic light to change and others sounding their horns as they passed by. During the Anderson town council meeting several of these supporters also voiced their concerns about reducing Anderson's fire and police personal. According the Harvard Business Review many cities under the gun are making these type of personal cuts. They state that while these types of budget reductions may produce short-term savings but could result in longer term costs. One of these examples they highlight of calling it a penny-wise but pound-foolish decision: City that decide to reduce its number of public safety officers end up experiencing an increase in crime that drives away tax-paying businesses which is exactly the path the City of Anderson has embarked on. Employees are more than just paychecks on a city's books. They are people who have families and responsibilities they may not be able to fulfill. For some these possible job losses could become personally devastating. When an employer, such as the City of Anderson, hands out walking papers to employees, a ripple effect starts to take place. If these cuts are made some may end up having to default on financial obligations; some may lose homes. Reductions in emergency services such as police and fire not only affect those who lose jobs it also has a profound effect on those who are called upon to pick up the extra work load. Some police departments that have gone through these types of staffing reductions have found it necessary to reduce their front desk hours, make determinations as to what type crimes that would not be sent out on, alternative reporting mechanisms and diminished traffic services. Another problem for police departments when staff is reduced are those situations that require follow up investigations. Solving crime is not always simple. Some take many hours of manpower in order to develop a case you can win in the courts. There's nothing more traumatizing to a victim (or community) then to watch to a bad guy go free. None of these possibilities help to make a community safer or its citizens feel more secure. These types of emergency personal cuts could also cause companies that may have considered locating to an area to take a second look and perhaps locating their company elsewhere. Another affect of staff reductions that are not seen at first is the toll it can take on the remaining staff. Such is the case that was studied when in hospitals recently. What they found was that reduction in staffing in hospitals resulted in nurses reporting burn out and dissatisfied with their jobs. These hospital staff reductions also lead to mistakes being made because of the increased work load. Firefighters face many of the same issues as police when staffing cuts are made. Another issue that may have to be faced down the road for fire departments is whether they can continue their mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire departments. Many smaller cities and towns rely heavily on larger ones like the City of Anderson's when there's a major fire or natural disaster in their area. If the city makes the proposed cuts in Anderson smaller departments may find themselves also victims of Anderson's decision to reduce emergency services. In recent times and because of the recession no town or city has had an abundance of emergency personal on their payrolls. While seven police officers or twenty some firefighters may not be seen as a large number reductions staffing reductions such as these could have a profound impact on workload and efficiency for these departments. We will know in a few weeks what the City of Anderson's final decision is. The council will vote October 23 at 5 p.m. What we should all hope for is that they make the right one and not the short term fix they have proposed.

The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role. The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station. Due to Dragnet's popularity, LAPD Chief Parker "became, after J. Edgar Hoover, the most well known and respected law enforcement official in the nation". In the 1960s, when the LAPD under Chief Thomas Reddin expanded its community relations division and began efforts to reach out to the African-American community, Dragnet followed suit with more emphasis on internal affairs and community policing than solving crimes, the show's previous mainstay. Several prominent representations of the LAPD and its officers in television and film include Adam-12, Blue Streak, Blue Thunder, Boomtown, The Closer, Colors, Crash, Columbo, Dark Blue, Die Hard, End of Watch, Heat, Hollywood Homicide, Hunter, Internal Affairs, Jackie Brown, L.A. Confidential, Lakeview Terrace, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Life, Numb3rs, The Shield, Southland, Speed, Street Kings, SWAT, Training Day and the Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour and Terminator film series. The LAPD is also featured in the video games Midnight Club II, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, L.A. Noire and Call of Juarez: The Cartel. The LAPD has also been the subject of numerous novels. Elizabeth Linington used the department as her backdrop in three different series written under three different names, perhaps the most popular being those novel featuring Det. Lt. Luis Mendoza, who was introduced in the Edgar-nominated Case Pending. Joseph Wambaugh, the son of a Pittsburgh policeman, spent fourteen years in the department, using his background to write novels with authentic fictional depictions of life in the LAPD. Wambaugh also created the Emmy-winning TV anthology series Police Story. Wambaugh was also a major influence on James Ellroy, who wrote several novels about the Department set during the 1940s and 1950s, the most famous of which are probably The Black Dahlia, fictionalizing the LAPD's most famous "cold case", and L.A. Confidential, which was made into a film of the same name. Both the novel and the film chronicled mass-murder and corruption inside and outside the force during the Parker era. Critic Roger Ebert indicates that the film's characters (from the 1950s) "represent the choices ahead for the LAPD": assisting Hollywood limelight, aggressive policing with relaxed ethics, and a "straight arrow" approach. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAPD

Briefly appearing in 1915, then banned and taken out of circulation for its adult treatment of sexuality, Lawrence's visionary novel The Rainbow attempts to situate the lives of three generations of the Brangwen family within the continuous social change marking the Victorian transformation of Britain. Farmer Tom and his Polish wife Lydia, whose peaceful rural existence re-enacts the potent myths of Genesis; artisan Will and the matriarch Anna, who go to live among the industrial and mining communities so rapidly sprung up around Nottingham; finally the restless Ursula who, moving to the city, seeks sexual and emotional fulfilment with the Polish-descended Skrebensky - the three couples are not merely illustrative of the changing times, but allow the author to study in depth the conflict between the outer 'social' selves of those individuals and what he curiously calls the 'inhuman' essential being, the 'is-ness' at the core of their psychical life. Lawrence evokes this dark, unconscious 'vital core' through a language of breathtaking poetic beauty; a rhythmic incantatory prose which listeners to this recording will find perfectly rendered by Tony Foster, in all its nuances. Like Paul Morel, the hero of the earlier Sons and Lovers, Ursula survives her losses to face a future of uncertain but radiant hope: "She saw in the rainbow the earth's new architecture, the old, brittle corruption of houses and factories swept away, the world built up in a living fabric of Truth, fitting to the over-arching heaven." (Summary by Martin Geeson) Genre(s): Published 1900 onward The Rainbow (Version 2) D. H.
