Is Australia's mining boom losing steam?

02:45
Australia has one of the strongest economies in the developed world, avoiding the recession that's affected so many other countries in recent years.     That's partly down to the country's rich mining sector, which makes up two-thirds of its exports.   But is the booming industry losing steam? Al jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports now from the remote Pilbara region in Western Australia.

Mine Rehabilitation

12:35
In Queensland 220,000 hectares have been disturbed by coal mining yet only 506 hectares have been certified rehabilitated. That's just 0.23%. ABC TV's Lateline investigated mine rehabilitation and found it can be done properly, but it's only happening at a handful of mines. A senate enquiry will examine how to force mining companies rehabilitate the land properly.

Wittenoom - The Abandoned Blue Asbestos Mine Ghost Town & The Residents Who Refuse To Leave

13:26
Wittenoom - The Blue Asbestos Ghost Town & The Residents Who Refuse To Leave Devils Dust Movie Trailer - The Killer James Hardie Asbestos Company & Bernie Banton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0REkJuPi1zw Devil's Dust is a two-part Australian television docu-drama mini-series on the ABC which first screened in 2012. Based on journalist Matt Peacock's 2009 book Killer Company, Devil's Dust was researched and developed by producer Stephen Corvini for over two years prior to the series' production. Through the factual case of Bernie Banton, it recounts the tragedy of many Australian workers and their families afflicted with asbestosis and mesothelioma in the twentieth-century asbestos mining and processing industries. Though the extreme health risks of exposure to asbestos dust had been documented for many years, manufacturer James Hardie persisted in large-scale use of the material, aided by inadequate regulation by state health agencies. BEFORE he died an early death at 61 in 2007, Australia knew Bernie Banton as the smiling man with asbestosis who carried an oxygen bottle wherever he went. We didn't know all that much about him at first, just that he was up against the polished legal might and political clout of building materials manufacturer James Hardie. I still remember the company's name stamped on sheets of "fibro" in the local hardware yard. I had no idea the lives of thousands of Australians might have been jeopardised by asbestos in materials such as this. Or that underfelt made from shredded asbestos bags under old carpet leaked pain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_Dust Banton seemed an ordinary bloke, a former factory worker, who soon became the widely recognised face of the legal and political campaign to achieve compensation for the many sufferers of asbestos-related diseases. But, as this two-part series reveals, there was more to Banton than many of us realised as we watched the emerging folk hero on TV waging his seemingly losing battle against the corporate figureheads of the James Hardie company. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/review/no-clean-sweep-as-miniseries-devils-dust-tackles-bernie-bantons-asbestos-story/story-fn9n8gph-1226513068301 Bernard Douglas (Bernie) Banton AM (13 October 1946 – 27 November 2007) was an Australian social justice campaigner. He was the widely-recognised face of the legal and political campaign to achieve compensation for the many sufferers of asbestos-related conditions, which they contracted after either working for the company James Hardie or being exposed to James Hardie Industries' products. Bernie himself suffered from asbestosis, Asbestos-Related Pleural Disease (ARPD) and then finally peritoneal mesothelioma. These conditions required him to carry an oxygen tank wherever he went. The 2009 book Killer Company details Banton's fight against James Hardie. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Banton Bernie Banton on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cjhzvzoo0sk Banton brought an action against Amaca Pty Ltd before the Dust Diseases Tribunal of New South Wales https://safetyatworkblog.com/2012/10/30/devils-dust-australian-movie-on-asbestos-and-corporate-morality/ Exposure to Deadly Asbestos, Pesticides, Illegal Dumping etc - The Dangers, Examples, Advice & Warnings - James Hardie Australia ( Mesothelioma ) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhyT97-KaZ_04EsHUmFurL1vLBSdMtzzR Devils Dust - Deadly Natural Blue Asbestos Facts & Dangers - Products of Asbestos - Mesothelioma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eKi4_AM6l8

BLUE ASBESTOS MINES AT KURUMAN, SOUTH AFRICA 1950s HOME MOVIE 62724

13:30
This silent 1950s home movie shows some of the mining operations for blue asbestos at Kuruman, South Africa. The entire film was shot outside the mine itself, which was underground (opening visible at 1:46) and you can see ore cars being moved to and from the mine at :33. Ore is moved on a series of conveyer belts (:45) to be processed. At 2:12, a supervisor wearing a pith type helmet pours himself a drink. At 2:15 mine tailings are visible. At 2:42 the scene switches to the blue asbestos mines at Westerburg and Koegas at Prieska. Unfortunately most of the people you see in this film likely died of exposure to asbestos. According to an article on the Internet: "A large part of Prieska's 15,000 population worked in the asbestos mill at the edge of town, for a long time the town's main source of employment; others were employed at local mines. Three thousand residents of the region have already died of asbestos-related diseases, and the list is growing longer by the week. "Prieska is a living graveyard," says Cecil Skeffers, the town's community development worker. He watched his own father die recently, his breath slowly choked away." At 2:58, men bore into the shored-up rock wall with a drill. At 3:23 ore cars depart the mine via a mechanized cable. At 3:44 they are pushed to be processed. At 3:55 a sifting mechanism is used to find asbestos crystals. At 4:20, children are seen at the mine processing area. At 5:24, another look at the machinery used in processing. At 6:28, a long sweeping shot of what might be the Prieska town, with tailings visible. At 7:00, more rock sifting is shown, distant smoke is likely from the smelter. At around 9 minutes, a segment of the film footage is repeated or "duped". All the mines shown were located in the Asbestos Mountains range, hills in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, stretching south-southwest from Kuruman, where the range is known as the Kuruman Hills, to Prieska. The range lies about 150 km west of Kimberley and rises from the Ghaap Plateau. The mountains were named for the asbestos which was mined in the 20th century and is found as a variety of amphibole called crocidolite. Veins occur in slaty rocks, and are associated with jaspers and quartzites rich in magnetite and brown iron-ore. Geologically it belongs to the Griquatown series. Asbestos is a set of six naturally occurring silicate minerals, which all have in common their eponymous asbestiform habit: i.e. long (roughly 1:20 aspect ratio), thin fibrous crystals, with each visible fiber composed of millions of microscopic "fibrils" that can be released by abrasion and other processes. They are commonly known by their colors, as blue asbestos, brown asbestos, white asbestos, and green asbestos. Asbestos mining existed more than 4,000 years ago, but large-scale mining began at the end of the 19th century, when manufacturers and builders began using asbestos for its desirable physical properties. Some of those properties are sound absorption, average tensile strength, affordability, and resistance to fire, heat, and electricity. It was used in such applications as electrical insulation for hotplate wiring and in building insulation. When asbestos is used for its resistance to fire or heat, the fibers are often mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. Asbestos use continued to grow through most of the 20th century until public knowledge (acting through courts and legislatures) of the health hazards of asbestos dust outlawed asbestos in mainstream construction and fireproofing in most countries. Prolonged inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause serious and fatal illnesses including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis (a type of pneumoconiosis). By the 1980s and 1990s, asbestos trade and use were heavily restricted, phased out, or banned outright in an increasing number of countries. DON RHODES MINING AND TRANSPORT MUSEUM PORT HEDLAND WA WESTERN AUSTRALIA

14:49
CARAVAN TRIP 2007 Port Hedland was originally known by the Indigenous Kariyarra and Nyamal people as Marrapikurrinya, which either means "place of good water" Though the coastline in the area had been explored in the 1700s, Captain Peter Hedland was one of the first Europeans to explore the harbour for the purpose of developing an export port. Peter Hedland arrived in the area in April 1863 onboard his boat, Mystery that he had built himself at Point Walter on the banks of the Swan River. He named the Harbour Mangrove Harbour and reported that it would make a good landing site with a well protected harbour and that there was also fresh water available. What Hedland failed to point out was that the harbour was difficult to enter because of a huge sandbar that sealed the entrance meaning it was only accessible at high tide and that it was difficult to enter in bad weather because of the narrow entrance.[4] During 1866 the resident Magistrate of Roebourne Treverton Sholl commissioned Charles Wedge to investigating alternative towns site to Roebourne. Wedge reported that Port Hedland's suitability was pessimistic. In 1891 the exploration of the area by Tom Traine John Wedge and Syd Hedley identified two landings and described the harbour as "pretty as well as safe". During September 1895 Cossack residents requested the District Surveyor to survey the headland at Port Hedland and requested the Government to build a jetty. Goldsworthy mining discovered iron ore in the Pilbara in the late 1950s and built the towns of Goldsworthy and later Shaygap as mine sites. A rail line was then built to Port Hedland where dredging was undertaken to deepen and widen the port's channel and a wharf was built opposite the township of Port Hedland on Finicane Island. Shipment of ore began on 27 May 1966 when the Harved S Muddsailed from Port hedland to Japan with 24,900 tonnes of ore. In 1967 iron ore was discovered at Mt Whaleback and a mining venture was undertaken that included the establishment of a new Town, Newman, 426 km of rail from the mine to the port and the development of processing equipment at both Newman and Port Hedland. In 1986, at a cost of $87 million, the existing channel was dredged to allow the port to increase the tonnage of those ships able to enter the port. WIKIPEDIA DON PUGH

Driving Road Safety at Goonyella Riverside Mine, Australia

01:14
Light vehicle rollovers and collisions with heavy vehicles are two of our most significant safety risks at BHP. During a 24-hour period, an average of 400 light to medium vehicles enter Goonyella Riverside Coal Mine in Queensland, Australia. Each of these vehicles has the potential to interact with 69 off-road mining trucks. To reduce the risk of light vehicle roll-overs and interactions with heavy vehicles on site, the team implemented the Driving Road Safety Program. Three key elements to the Program involved firstly, separating light and heavy vehicles, secondly moving to five-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program light vehicles and thirdly introducing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Since the project was completed, there have been no roll-over events recorded. The program has decreased the number of roads shared by heavy and light vehicles, and therefore the potential for collisions, by 49 per cent and reduced the number of four-way intersections from 17 to two. The UAVs provide timely and accurate data for monitoring of road construction and conditions and environmental hazards, and reduce the potential for pit interaction between people and vehicles.

Mining occurs throughout Australia, but its direct impacts on biodiversity are relatively limited compared with other major land uses because the areas affected are generally small. Dr Alan Andersen talks about the main impacts of mining on biodiversity and how these can be appropriately managed through processes like strategic regional assessments, use of bioindicators in rehabilitation, and biodiversity offsets. It was later changed to the line east of Perth, Western Australia, as the line progressed east in the 1880s. Perth was then the location from which miles were measured. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Railway_%28Western_Australia%29 The narrow gauge Government railway line reached Kalgoorlie in the 1896, and the main named railway service from Perth was the overnight sleeper train The Westland which ran until the 1970s. In 1917, a standard gauge railway line was completed, connecting Kalgoorlie to the city of Port Augusta, South Australia, across 2000 km of desert, and consequently the rest of the eastern states. BREAKING NEWS — Online purchases of firearms-related items put a home in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia, on police radar. Then Australian Border Force officers at the Sydney International Mail Gateway intercepted a number of mail items containing firearm parts. A search warrant was executed on Dec. 5, 2018. During the search, officers seized five long-arm firearms, including a working and loaded grenade launcher, two sound-and-flash grenades, one gas propelled anti-personal mine, seven gas-propelled grenade-type canisters, various calibres of ammunition, body armour and camouflage gear. A 49-year-old man was arrested and he was refused bail. Police are warning citizens to be careful and aware of what can and cannot be imported into Australia, even if it is ordered through an Australian company. ABF Investigations Superintendent Garry Low said the detection highlights the commitment of the ABF and partner agencies. “We have significant intelligence capabilities to detect online purchases of firearms and accessories and through our investigations we have located a number,” Superintendent Low said. “People need to be aware of the regulations around importing these items into Australia and that the ABF will investigate and take action against anyone found to be illicitly bringing them into the country.” ~ The Mob Reporter is a professional journalist bringing you real-life mob, police and true crime news and educational videos. ~ PLEASE SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/themobreporter?sub_confirmation=1 ~ Please subscribe to my other channels: • Crime Watch: https://www.youtube.com/CrimeWatchWorld • Crime in Italy: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-RAffGKnxExn8kXmeRdRsg ~ To read my news exposés and journalism in the National Post, visit: http://news.nationalpost.com/author/ahumphreys/ ~ For more information, visit http://www.adrianhumphreys.com. One Mine, One Life: Tony Langer at TEDxCanberra

16:20
"One mine, one life." Tony Langer humbly describes himself as a 'simple copper', but to many people in South East Asian countries devastated by remnants of war, he is much more. Tony works with Humanitarian Mine Action Groups to remove unexploded landmines from the countryside. Tony Langer is a Detective Sergeant with the West Australian Police. Trained in explosives detection and handling, Tony dedicates his life outside of work to using these skills in somewhat unexpected ways. Tony has raised funds and donations of equipment worth over $500,000 to support this work, which he does on his own time and at his own cost. He is the recipient of the Royal Order of Sahametrei (Knighthood) for distinguished humanitarian services to the King and People of Cambodia. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Giz Watson Giz Watson is the lead candidate for the Greens in the South West and has been a Member of Parliament for the Greens since 1997. She has a degree in Environmental Science as well a Trade Certificate in carpentry and joinery, and a Builder's registration. Her passion for ecology, peace and social justice led her to be a community activist for a range of causes such as protecting our forests; advocating for community housing; opposing the arms trade; and advocating for gay and lesbian rights. In 2011, Giz was recognised amongst 100 "Women of the Century" for her work in parliament and in the gay and lesbian community, and she was inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame. Background As early as the 1970s, Giz was active in the first direct action campaign in WA against clear felling of jarrah forests for bauxite mining. She also has been at the forefront of the campaign to prevent uranium mining in this State, twice introducing legislation to ban uranium mining into the State Parliament. Giz's story is told in this short biography. http://greens4southwest.org.au/sites/default/files/giz%20watson%20biography.pdf A hard-working Member of Parliament In Parliament, Giz is the Greens' spokesperson on justice issues, defending the rule of law and civil liberties. She also chairs the Legislative Council Standing Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations which deals with matters relating to the financial administration of the State, as well as the budget estimates. The protection of WA's remaining native forests and woodlands is a major focus in Giz's work, and she has voiced her concerns about the impact of declining rainfall on the ecological health of these systems. She has been a strong supporter of the fight against coal mining in Margaret River and currently has a Private Member's Bill before Parliament to amend the Mining Act 1978. The Bill seeks to prevent mining leases from being granted if they do not comply with local planning schemes. MINING ENGINEER MIGRATING FROM PHILIPPINES TO AUSTRALIA

03:39
Mabuhay! This video is presented by Jose Respall, the principal of Respall Migration Australia which was founded in 1999. If you are a Filipino Mining Engineer working in the Philippines or overseas in a country outside Australia here is a great opportunity for you. A chance to further your career in Australia. It is a land of opportunity with higher wages and a wonderful relaxed way of life. Joseis a registered migration agent who specialises in Australian immigration. The first step involves reading the first 4 chapters of Jose Respall's book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines. The book captures his 14 years of Australian immigration experience. Respall has made the first 4 chapters available in a downloadable e-book from the website at http://www.respall.com/. He has included real life Australian immigration case studies, hints and tips on how to migrate to Australia, technical information and the all-important code of conduct. The video outlines the process to receiving a visa to live in Australia. The Mining Engineer applicant must attend a review for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at Respall Migration Australia Manila. This is done to help the applicant to pass it. The engineer is shown the Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) which is a requirement of Engineers Australia to prove the applicant has the experience to work in Australia. Respall Migration Australia documentation specialists assist the Mining Engineer with each document to make sure it is correct - this includes improving their CV to Australian standards. Engineers Australia is the assessing authority for engineers who migrate to Australia from the Philippines. Once the IELTS test has been passed and Engineers Australia has provided a favourable letter the next step is for Respall Migration Australia to prepare an Expression of Interest and lodge it with the Department of Immigration and Boarder Protection (DIPB). The department sends specific instructions regarding the engineer application for Australian immigration and Respall Migration Australia help the Mining Engineer to complete the requests. Once those requirements are met the department issues a visa grant for the engineer and their family members - if they are included in the application for Australian immigration. To start this whole process a Filipino Mining Engineer must email their CV to Respall Migration Australia for assessment. Engineers living in the Philippines can meet Respall Migration Australia in their Makati City office; those further away can Skype. The complete book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines will officially be launched in May 2014 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Respall Migration Australia. Respall Migration Australian principal Jose Respall says there is a real minefield when it comes to Australian immigration. Engineers being highly skilled professionals sometimes attempt to prepare their own visa applications but they can't be expected to know the Migration Act and keep up with Australian government changes to legislation which occur several times a year. One wrong answer or incorrect document can jeopardise the entire application. The other danger is the many unscrupulous and corrupt individuals who promise to help but really are only interested in taking the applicant's money and disappearing. Some have masqueraded as migration agents. The end result is usually the visa applicant losing a lot of money for no gain. Respall Migration Australia stresses the need for a genuine and valid visa application for Australian immigration. A Filipino Mining Engineer has peace of mind knowing that Jose Respall, who is located in Sydney, Australia, is a registered migration agent as is the manager of his operation based in the Philippines and they must abide by the Code of Conduct as a breach of the code would see their licence being removed. A copy of the code of conduct is provided by Respall Migration Australia to their clients.

For more information visit http://www.asiatravel.com Perth /pɜrθ/ is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the fourth most populous city in Australia, with an estimated population of 1.9 million living in Greater Perth.[8] Part of the South West Land Division of Western Australia, the majority of the metropolitan area of Perth is located on the Swan Coastal Plain, a narrow strip between the Indian Ocean and the Darling Scarp, a low coastal escarpment. The first areas settled were on the Swan River, with the city's central business district and port (Fremantle) both located on its shores. Perth's metropolitan area is formally divided into a number of local government areas, which themselves consist of a large number of suburbs, extending from Two Rocks in the north to Rockingham in the south, and east inland to The Lakes. Perth was originally founded by Captain James Stirling in 1829 as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony, and gained city status in 1856 (currently vested in the smaller City of Perth). The city is named for Perth, Scotland, by influence of Sir George Murray, then British Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. The city's population increased substantially as a result of the Western Australian gold rushes in the late 19th century, largely as a result of emigration from the eastern colonies of Australia. During Australia's involvement in World War II, Fremantle served as a base for submarines operating in the Pacific Theatre. An influx of immigrants following the conclusion of the war was followed by a surge in economic activity as a result of several mining booms in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with Perth becoming the regional headquarters for a number of mining operations located around the state. As part of Perth's role as the capital of Western Australia, the state's Parliament and Supreme Court are located within the city, as well as Government House, the residence of the Governor of Western Australia. Perth became known worldwide as the "City of Light" when city residents lit their house lights and streetlights as American astronaut John Glenn passed overhead while orbiting the earth on Friendship 7 in 1962.[9][10] The city repeated the act as Glenn passed overhead on the Space Shuttle in 1998.[11][12] Perth came 9th in the Economist Intelligence Unit's August 2012 list of the world's most liveable cities,[13] and was classified by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network in 2010 as a world city.[14] Perth Cultural Centre is both an area of central Perth and the collective name for the main buildings of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum, Alexander Library, State Records Office and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA). In addition to the Perth Cultural Centre a number of other venues within the city exist including the State Theatre - home to the Black Swan State Theatre Company in Northbrige, His Majesty's Theatre, Perth in the City and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on the foreshore. The Perth International Arts Festival is a cultural festival that has been held annually since 1953, and has since been expanded to include the Winter Arts festival. In recent years this has been developed further to include the Perth Fringe Festival, which runs throughout the city in the lead up to the Perth International Arts Festival. Kings Park, located in central Perth between the CBD and the University of Western Australia, is the largest inner-city park in the world,[80] at 4.06 square kilometres. Perth Zoo, located in South Perth, houses a variety of Australian and exotic animals from around the globe. The zoo is home to highly successful breeding programs for orangutans and giraffes, and participates in captive breeding and reintroduction efforts for a number of Western Australian species, including the numbat, the dibbler, the chuditch, and the western swamp tortoise.[81] Info Taken from Wikipedia.com Credits to Wikipedia.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perth

Why is CONGO one of the POOREST COUNTRIES in the World? - VisualPolitik EN

Congo has more than 80 million inhabitants living within a territory the size of Western Europe and is one of the poorest and most violent countries on Earth. Most of the population of Congo lives on less than a dollar a day. Starvation is common. And guerrilla warfare is so typical in this country that it’s no longer newsworthy. But their history is much more complex than those clickbait articles you’ve found on your twitter feed. Dialogue with Mining Companies and Stakeholders 8/3/2017

01:46
Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace August 3, 2017 “I am carrying the burden of governance,” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in a dialogue with leaders and stakeholders of mining companies at the Malacañan Palace. The President spoke of how every Filipino deserves a piece of the country’s bounty but lamented the number of Filipinos who died due to unsafe and incorrect mining practices, as well as from malicious actions of a few mining companies. President Duterte shared his philosophy on the environment and said that ”the first spadeful from a virgin soil” is already a miniscule form of environmental pollution but added that stopping mining is not good for the country as billions of pesos in mining tax will be forfeited, aside from mining jobs that will be lost. The President further discussed how unsustainable mining practices do more damage to surrounding communities due to destruction of natural resources such as muddying of fishing grounds that force fishermen to fish further away, with smaller fishermen unable to make a living. “You are depriving the people of livelihood,” said the President. He also mentioned the mining laws meant to preserve the country, saying, ”I can only implement mining laws to see to it that the environment… is amply protected.” The President was accompanied in the dialogue by Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu and other government officials. * * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang Twitter: @RTVMalacanang Google+: google.com/+RTVMalacanang

Why the Deadly Asbestos Industry is Still Alive and Well

19:28
Despite irrefutable scientific evidence calling out the dangers of asbestos, 2 million tons of the carcinogen are exported every year to the developing world, where it's often handled with little to no regulation. For this episode of VICE Reports, correspondent Milène Larsson traveled to the world's largest asbestos mine in the eponymous town of Asbest, Russia, to meet workers whose livelihoods revolve entirely around the dangerous mineral. Surprisingly, the risks associated with asbestos mining didn't seem to worry the inhabitants; in fact, asbestos is the city's pride, celebrated with monuments, songs, and even its own museum. Larsson then visits Libby, Montana, another mining town almost on the other side of the globe, where the effects of asbestos exposure are undeniable: 400 townspeople have died from asbestos-related diseases, and many more are slowly choking to death. Why is the deadly industry of mining and selling asbestos still alive and well? No Permit Required! How to Buy Land for Your Off Grid Log Cabin or Tiny Home in Canada

25:15
Find out how to find and finance a property with no permit requirements and very low taxes in Ontario, Canada. http://myselfreliance.com/no-permit-required-where-to-build-your-tiny-home/ I found my solution in the form of an unorganized township in Ontario, Canada. Here, I am unencumbered by government oversight. With no building permit requirement and very low annual property taxes, I am free to build what I want, where I want and when I want. Without oversight, I am free to build another log cabin. This one is 10 feet by 20 feet - 200 square feet plus a 70 square foot covered porch and a back deck overlooking the stream, which will eventually be screened in. How to find a property in an unorganized township 1. Search Realtor.ca in the area that you are interested in. 2. Contact real estate agents in desired locations and asked for a list of unorganized townships in the area. 3. Ask realtor for a list of properties for sale in an unorganized townships. Include already developed properties - sometimes the building is not suitable for habitation but beneficial infrastructure is in place, such as driveway, well and septic. 4. Visit http://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on.ca/CLUPA/Index.html?site=CLUPA&viewer=CLUPA&locale=en-US (Crown Land Use Policy Atlas) to see what public lands are located near your property. Ideally, a large park of public land should be within walking distance. 5. Spend time on Google Earth to get an idea of what surrounds the property - lakes and rivers, landfill sites, other developments, mines, quarries, etc.

Giz Watson talking about important issues for the South West

32:46
Luke Fox | "Devotion to the Ocean" (South West, Western Australia): STA Travel Sounds

03:20
Raised on the crisp air of Australia’s south west Luke Fox has always been a different breed of musician than his urbanised contemporaries. Luke lives a balanced life, enjoying his work as a career firefighter and pursuing his greatest passions and interests – surf, travel and music. Influenced by the likes of Paul Simon, Angus Stone, Mat McHugh and the Beautiful Girls, Luke is crafting his own brand of coastal roots sounds. Earthy, artistic and multi-talented Luke's creative and intrepid spirit has led him across the globe following his passions, but it was at one acoustic show at a late-night bar in Portugal, in the small fishing town of Ericeira, where Luke truly realised the harmony that sharing his music adds to his life. Not long after, Luke’s chance encounter with the creative team at STA Travel saw him signed to their new platform for emerging artists - statravelsounds.com. Luke’s wandering spirt and laidback confidence was the perfect fit for this platform ensuring he’ll continue to find new adventures across the globe as often as possible. In late 2016, following this chance encounter, Luke entered Rada studios to record his debut single with renowned producer Matt Gio. Matt is known for his versatility between genres with a diverse list of clients including Abbe May, San Cisco and Birds of Tokyo. After a few beers and some ‘genre hopping’ for inspiration the song Devotion to the Ocean was born. It is an honest and intimate take on the perils of love, travel and the longing for home. With heartfelt lyrics spoken softly beneath a wry confidence the song builds from an acoustic dreamscape into a chorus of brightness and colour with a flavour of downbeat Calypso and a rolling bass line that makes you wanna dance. For Luke this journey is really just beginning and wherever he finds himself on the road searching for new sensations, there is always an emphasis on the familiar act of returning to a place he calls home. For Luke Fox there is always an island on the horizon. ----- Make sure to head to http://sta.travel/2ka8c2N to discover more about Luke Fox! ► Follow Luke Fox https://www.facebook.com/lukefoxsounds/ https://soundcloud.com/lukefoxsounds https://www.instagram.com/lukefoxsounds/ ► Follow STA Travel Sounds Twitter: https://twitter.com/statravelsounds Facebook: http://sta.travel/2kAaEjP SoundCloud: http://sta.travel/1LCSmod ______ STA Travel Sounds is a global new music platform – a place to discover those unsigned singers, groups and DJs already making waves in their own neighbourhood pubs and clubs; and who we believe are about to make it big on the world stage.
