Every thanksgiving, Amtrak operates a number of trains known as 'holiday extras' on the Northeast Corridor to cope with the increase in passenger traffic. Because Amtrak doesn't have enough equipment assigned to the Northeast Corridor, it borrows equipment from NJ Transit and MARC, in addition to using Horizon coaches, which are usually used in the Midwest and the West Coast. In this video, Amtrak Adirondack train #69 flies through Riverdale station with Amtrak #702, a P32AC-DM in shiny Phase III paint leading the way. The train consists of four Amfleet and two Horizon coaches. The Horizon coaches are filling in for two Amfleet cars that are being used on the Northeast Corridor for the Holiday rush. As #69 charges north, it meets a southbound Metro North train of M7 coaches, which passes a mere two seconds before.
